They're always slow for a few things. Like uh, GPU access, unless you have two

How is the discussion regarding the suggested changes to handling of PSCI calls by the Linux kernel? Is there any simple way to try and follow the kernel work that is related to Asahi only?
<j`ey>
there's been no more discussion since the initial one on irc, a patch was made for psci via efi, which I made a hacky prototype from in m1n1/uboot, but thats it so far
<maz>
kaprests: the discussion hasn't really started yet.

j`ey: Update on zfsbootmenu: didnt work after the compiling the kernel with the first patch suggested. I see you also posted a link right before I rebooted to test: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/arch/arm64/kernel/machine_kexec.c#L70 How would you suggest modifying line 71? Just remove the whole 'if statement'?
<povik>
just a check. when you built with that patch, did you enable KEXEC_HACK as a config option?
<povik>
it should have asked you at start of the build, after your applied the patch
<derzahl>
but he didnt mention what to change, and I rebooted to test the first change right as he mentioned the second file/line to look at
<derzahl>
so Im all ready to compile with BOTH of the suggested changes, as well as any other modifications you or others think may do the trick
<Lucy[m]>
Is there any reason you want to use zfsbootmenu so badly?
<j`ey>
derzahl: so you changed num_possible_cpus to num_online_cpus?
<j`ey>
the machine_kexec.c file I linked as as a source of the error, not a place to make a change?
* j`ey
afk back to watching a film
<derzahl>
j`ey: yes, that was the only change
<derzahl>
Lucy[m]: consistancy I guess. I use it on my other systems now, and I would prefer not to have a separate zfs boot partition to use bootenv's with grub. I also had issues even booting zfs regularly on asahi using the standard initcpio hooks - but I dont recall what they were right now
<Lucy[m]>
Well, that's a fair point. But seeing as kexec itself doesn't work properly right now, maybe it's better to just wait a little?
<Lucy[m]>
Rather than hacking on it.
<derzahl>
Lucy[m]: seeming that way. If j`ey, povik or others have no further suggestions then I will give up
