povik: so it looks like audio is enabled? any other idea of things to check? would be awesome to get my sound back
<chadmed>
derzahlah: is there anything in dmesg about alsa being unable to preallocate memory for the pcm
<derzahlah>
chadmed: not that i see. i have a few of these msgs tho:
<derzahlah>
apple-mca 238400000.mca: ASoC: error at snd_soc_dai_set_sysclk on mca-i2s-2: -16
<derzahlah>
should i be using pulseaudio or pipewire?
<chadmed>
pipewire is what we support but that shouldnt have any bearing on what the kernel drivers are doing to bring the hardware up

My xorg high CPU usage peoblem(s) was caused by a compositor running silent (background) that I had overseen. Asahi not to blame.

I have also some trouble pairing my bluetooth mouse. Seems like its the same as jannau has. Are there any plans on taking in the lol-patch sven posted earlier into asahi linux repo?
<sven>
that needs a proper fix which will go into the repo eventually
chadmed has joined #asahi
<povik>
that's not the proper fix?
<sven>
probably not
<sven>
it needs to be quirk at least
<sven>
and there might be other places where we'll have to mask the upper bits as well
<sven>
but i suspect we'll just see the same frames
<sven>
btmon is also able to parse those frames correctly because that type thing is just a bitfield
<sven>
and there doesn't seem to be any weird additional crap in the frames i've seen her
<sven>
*here
<sven>
but it probably makes the most sense to actually understand what those events are supposed to look like and see if there's any difference
<Dcow[m]>
>> 0x25, 0x26 and 0x27
<Dcow[m]>
doesn't look like garbage
<sven>
well, could be something left over on the stack from a previous function call or something
<sven>
i'd try to collect a lot of those packets and see if there's any difference between those three values
<sven>
if there isn't it's either some status flag we can ignore or some left overs

For anybody (probably nobody!) wondering about my question yesterday about the stale boot policy files and how to delete then, it is actually very easy. Boot into recovery mode by pressing and holding power button for boot options as usual, then select the options, er, option. Then run Safari so you can copy the cleanup script from the Asahi blog, then quit Safari and run terminal. Run Vi or your editor of choice, paste in
<BlueIn2Red>
the script, save and quit, make it executable (chmod +x), then run it. As output it shows the uuids it keeps, and those it deletes (it got rid of four or five for me).

Similarly my question about the "dev" version of Asahi - instead of messing with pacman.conf (I couldn't work out how), I just reinstalled using the dev script (`curl -L https://alx.sh/dev | sh`) posted by Marcan yesterday. That installed as normal and "seems" to be the latest dev version (it has working bluetooth for example, although I haven't really found anything else obviously new yet).
