I would just like to drop in again and ask, if I just set up a distro from the UEFI environment, will I still be able to receive the advantages of GPU acceleration once it is released? I suppose this should be native kernel so the answer should be no?

yeah if you want to FDE you have to do it manually, but sure after that, it can just be a 'normal' asahi install with all the right packages

Ok so FDE seems too much of a hassle, I suppose just non-root is enough, I suppose that would just mean partitioning the disk in forward and installing the OS into a free partition and then just follow regular arch instructions https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Dm-crypt/Encrypting_a_non-root_file_system for the second free partition.
