I have M1 Mac 2021 model and installed " Asahi Fedora Mix " successfully.

As it is in Alpha stage keyboard got loaded / recognised after booted to Fedora, but mouse over Bluetooth is not working.

When I shutdown and try to go back to MAC OS, it asks me to press any key before it autobots into FEDORA, but at that stage my keyboard is also not working. When press key ii n kayboard it is not distrupting autoboot and after 4 seconds booting to Fedora.

Now Fedora is set to default boot volume.

So you need to hold the power button until the screen tells you it's loading startup options and then let go of the power button

How can I make my MAC OS Volume / partition a default boot volume / device ? Is it possible through RECOVERY options ?

from there you'll be able to switch between the asahi and macos sides

Although I do wonder if there is a way to always have the option to select show up at boot

From what I recall when you change boot options the system will keep using the same option unless you go to the startup options menu

Never tested Alpha release of any OS, this being my first. I wonder though, how come keyboard is working over Bluetooth, but not mouse.

has anyone managed to get qemu working on a M1 for supporting arm-linux-user(arm 32 bit) target architecture emulation? AFAIU M1 doesn't have native 32 bit arm emulation but in theory should be able to do software emulation right?

purely anecdotally (I have not performed any actual measurements) I seem to be getting better battery life under GNOME44 than I was under KDE (under mixed/casual usage, light multitasking, mostly browsing the web in Firefox). Has anyone else noticed this?

reminder that screen brightness makes a *huge* difference and, on miniLED machines, actual screen contents/lightness does too

unless you match that stuff it's kind of difficult to compare
<marcan>
easiest way to mostly remove that factor is to do the comparison at the lowest brightness that's still visible (which might make it hard to do comfortably as a normal daily test though)

then you'll be mostly measuring actual CPU/GPU power consumption differences
<marcan>
on non-miniLED it should be enough to make sure the brightness (as reported in sysfs) is ~identical

though lower brightness will still amplify differences and is better
