<nyabsi> Hello, I am not sure whenever this is the right place to ask. But I've having a little bit of trouble with mpv and GLSL shaders, I assumed OpenGLES 3.1 could finally solve this, but unfortunately, it's still just not working. I am using the Asahi Fedora Remix. If anyone has gotten mpv to work with GLSL shaders and is willing to perhaps give pointers to the right direction I would
<nyabsi> appriciate that. Thank you in advance.

<nyabsi> The asahi docs say that Touch ar is "ready to be merged" does this mean it is going to be merged to the linux mainstream? If so, is there any way to currently use this before it is merged?
ourdumbfuture has joined #asahi
<mps> yes, use latest asahi kernel and tiny-dfr daemon
<_jannau__> it's merged but not yet built in the asahi alarm or fedora kernels
<j`ey> nyabsi: it's not being merged into mainline (aka linus torvalds branch) but it has been merged into the asahi branch
<nyabsi> Ah, I see. I am using Fedora.
<nyabsi> Thanks for the pointers!
<mps> I merged it to alpine few days ago
<sven> dsharshakov: routing a few 40 gbps diffpairs if you want it to pass through usb 4 is considerably more challenging than a single 480mbps usb 2 diffpair ;)
hightower3 has joined #asahi
<sven> which is why it's also funny that they somehow got the usb 3 routing wrong in that thing ("For maximum signal integrity, USB 2.0 lines are available only at A6/A7 pins of the Type-C plug. [...]")

<dsharshakov> sven: yes, USB4 (20 gbps per lane, not 40 on each lane) might be troublesome/require more expensive manufacturing, however likely doable (have seen a guide on routing PCIe) under $900+ they ask for that. DP altmode might be more accomplishable if RBR/HBR is enough like with fhd display
<sven> sure, it's possible
<sven> but how do you guarantee that the signals are actually good? this would be test equipment so you'd want to be 100% sure any issues are not inside the pcb
<sven> that's the reason why this equipment is usually so expensive
<sven> don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind something like that and would be happy if someone builds that but the effort required seems to be rather large

<hanetzer> and, is the asmedia xhci pci thing part of the soc, or is it a discrete chip?
<j`ey> hanetzer: yes u-boot is used by asahi on the m1s
<hanetzer> dope.
<hanetzer> as in, they come with it, or ya'll made it work?
<j`ey> latter
ten15723774324 has joined #asahi
<hanetzer> nice. I'm not one much for apple in generall, but your project seemingly aligns with mine (desktop ryzen coreboot) a bit, in that the 'chipset' (x370/x470/etc) on the mobo seems to be asmedia-ish in the fw and fw load protocol for it.
<jannau> hanetzer: the branch we ship is asahi-releng
<jannau> the asmedia xhci is external
<hanetzer> neat.
<jannau> see here in the imac teardown for example https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iMac+M1+24-Inch+Teardown/142850#s288729

<hanetzer> *sees price tag* yeah nah, not spending that much on the off chance it will help me with the other project lmao
crcvxc has joined #asahi
<j`ey> Ive been on irc for a while :D
<hanetzer> but yeah. idea was, well, you guys got u-boot running. a coreboot port could not be that hard, and would give me a 'known working' asmedia chip to load firmware into from coreboot, which could hopefully be adapted to the x370 and other chipsets from amd
<pounce> Son_Goku ping re: fedora asahi matrix bridge
<hanetzer> but, as mentioned, nah. 1.3k for a laptop is by and far far too rich for my blood.
<jannau> hanetzer: the m2 mac mini has the asmedia xhci as well, (the m1 mini used a fresco logic one)
<Son_Goku> pounce: hm?
<hanetzer> like for real. my pay is $400/wk lmao.
<pounce> <pounce> is the fedora asahi channel bridged to IRC somewhere
<pounce> was thinking you might know better
<Son_Goku> it is not
<Son_Goku> and it won't be
<pounce> oh, why is this
<opticron> there was too much moderation problems
<jannau> hanetzer: none of the laptops have an asmedia xhci, the usb-c ports on laptops are all integrated usb4 ones with dwc3 for usb2/usb3
<pounce> on libera?
<Son_Goku> yes
<Son_Goku> libera was a spam gate
<Son_Goku> just like telegram was
<Son_Goku> nobody has a desire to bridge to IRC anymore
<opticron> I prefer the bridge not be here, the experience isn't great for anyone involved
<Son_Goku> the forceful shutdown of the global bridge has accelerated plans to eliminate IRC for Fedora official communication
<hanetzer> jannau: so what, the puck desktop thing they got?
<pounce> ok :(
<Son_Goku> the reason I'm here is because I already need to be on IRC temporarily while the rewrite of Fedora's IRC bots to Matrix bots is completed
<Son_Goku> it's actually a pain for me to be on OFTC because I cannot connect locally with by ISP getting banned frequently
<Son_Goku> and I'll have to downsize some stuff due to changes in my life recently
<pounce> not judging you by irc presence (or future lack thereof). i really wanted to know why fedora asahi didn't seem to have an irc presence when the rest of the asahi community seems to
<pounce> and the fedora official presence thing makes sense. i had a fedora maintainer coworker who was really into matrix
