Excited about the GPU driver becoming OpenGL ES 3.1 compliant! I was wondering, are the compute shaders in OpenGL ES 3.1 the same kind of compute that something like OpenCL uses? I'm looking forward to Asahi Linux some day natively supporting OpenCL since macOS' implementation isn't the best.
<zanfix>
Hi, does someone have broken bluetooth mouse pairing after the last kernel update? Was working fine for me until yesterday before i updated to 6.4 kernel
<jannau>
zanfix: there have been reports of broken pairing with logitech mice. I think those use bluetooth le for pairing
<jannau>
BenTheTechGuy: OpenGL ES 3.1 compute shaders are not the same as OpenCL. they are intended to assist GPU applications with compute, say physics simulations for a frame
<jannau>
that said tensorflow lite might work, not sure if anyone tried
derzahl has joined #asahi
<zanfix>
jannau: yes my mouse is a logitech pebble m350
<jannau>
zanfix: I can reproduce it only partially. pairing a mx anywhere 2 is broken through KDE bt wizard but works with bluetoothctl. I believed that to be an application bug

hello everyone, I would like to know, for those who don't like the "fedora" distro, can they continue to use the current asahi linux (arch based)? I have no desire to format everything to install Fedora when it is released, I ask if you can keep the current version of Asahi but updated like Fedora
leitao has quit []
leitao has joined #asahi
<j`ey>
it's going to keep being updated, but stuff won't really be worked on to get integrated as well
<TanoDebian12>
ok thanks! I understand but I can't hide a veil of disappointment, I love current asahi based on arch
<j`ey>
someone could step up to take over and work on it

does anyone know what is the minimum USB PD voltage/current at which M1/M2 laptops start charging? both powered on and off (assuming they are different)
crcvxc has joined #asahi
<lena_>
it would be nice if powered off you could charge them with 5V1A USB bricks (extremely slowly of course) in an emergency

lena_: pretty sure it will accept charge at 5V, i got it to charge with a wall wart that came with an ipad pro
flatz has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<lena_>
thats super nice to hear, because these machines sip power and in an emergency using a standard phone wall brick would be super nice
<lena_>
i know some x86_64 laptops that have 12V minimum as a charging voltage
<lena_>
and it's super annoying because it would be nice (even if i had to wait a lot for it to charge to an usable point) to just charge on whatever you have in h
<lena_>
in the moment
<_jannau__>
I think they charge with 5V/500mA while using m1n1's hypervisor over usb2, i.e. while connected to another computer
<sven>
yeah, i believe i've seen them charge from 5V/500mA as well

<lena_>
having it as a backup plan really is nice

<mps>
at least it will stop discharge I guess
<lena_>
yeah, a lot of x86_64 laptops just ignore whatever you throw at them if it's not at least 9/12V
<lena_>
even when fully powered off, where they should consume basically nothing
<ChaosPrincess>
doesnt battery chemistry means you need to apply enough voltage for the cells to charge
<ChaosPrincess>
and maybe they dont bother with boost converters it go from 5v
<lena_>
yeah absolutely, the 70/80% efficiency of a boost converter on top of a 5V/500mA power source makes it near useless, especially for a 45/60W x86 laptop

did something change again around libinput? libinput itself hasn't changed on my machine (M1Pro 16") since April but the past couple of days i've been getting issues with the trackpad again
<kit_ty_kate>
fingers do work fine in the corners but finger detection sometimes breaks when my palm is on the trackpad
<kit_ty_kate>
and i've never had that before in almost 2 years, but it's been happening frequently the past few days
<nicolas17>
well what *did* get upgraded in the last few days?
<kit_ty_kate>
the kernel
<kit_ty_kate>
6.3 --> 6.4
<nicolas17>
try 6.3 again? I don't remember if asahi keeps the previous kernel as a bootloader option
