Just noticed "[ 991.532971] apple-drm soc:display-subsystem: Plane operation would have crashed DCP! Rejected! ..." in the output of dmesg(1). running 6.12.4-400.asahi.fc40.aarch64+16k, on a "[ 0.000000] Machine model: Apple Mac mini (M1, 2020))", kwin, 2160p monitor (no scaling)". What caused this message? Anything i can/should do to avoid seeing it in the future?

we recently enabled overlay plane support, and plasma has facilities to use these for a hardware cursor

DCP has some odd requirements for hardware planes though, so the warning is there if a compositor tries to ask it to do something that would crash it

the kms driver will tell the compositor/whatever that the operation is invalid, but not every compositor will handle that gracefully

no, it's just a debugging point; if the other renderer is good, we can start looking at more specific areas. This is not at all a suggestion to keep using it as env var, just to debug

I am interested in using Asahi but my macbook air only has a 256GB storage. I can use an external drive if required. Is this too small to be enjoyable? I do have experience using Linux on my desktop PC.
