<Begasus> hi jmairboeck
<jmairboeck> hi Begasus
<Begasus> will check the changes later/tomorrow, thanks :)
<jmairboeck> I'm currently running the lilypond tests again, looking good so far :)
<Begasus> nice, I need to be able to build texlive_core again (last time it was against a new version I check for freetype), so need to re-check that with your changes and the current version
<jmairboeck> is there an open PR about freetype? should I check against the newer version?
<Begasus> no, I checked because of the failing freetype detection (current build is using meson, where in another version one coud use autotools to also create the freetype-config used by texlive for the detection)
<jmairboeck> the only change I did today was removing a "sed" command from the PATCH function that disabled the install-bin-links make target
<Begasus> currently checking up on some changes for "proj" bump
<jmairboeck> apparently that was broken in the old 2014 version by jessicah, but it works now
<Begasus> nice +1 :)
<jmairboeck> disabling that caused the symlinks like "extractbb" and others to be missing
<jmairboeck> which in turn caused building the lilypond tests to fail
<Begasus> good you found out why and where
<jmairboeck> redoing the patch function is a bit complicated with the texlive_core recipe, because autoconf is too clever ;)
<Begasus> https://github.com/Begasus/haikuports/wiki/WIP what I'm looking into now, finishing up (just got back from dogschool)
<Begasus> heh
<jmairboeck> probably the easiest would be to revert to ORIGIN and re-apply the patchset also in the same go, then it should do the right thing
<jmairboeck> i.e. delete both flag.patch and flag.patchset
<jmairboeck> or use one of the workarounds that I mentioned in the comments of the PR
bitigchi has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<Begasus> will give your suggestion another run when I get around to it :)
<Begasus> probably would need to do a "full" rebuild for that (currently still have the patched sources where I worked from)
<jmairboeck> ok, then you don't have that problem
<Begasus> you didn't have an issue with the freetype detection?
<jmairboeck> it said checking for freetype-config ... no, but that didn't cause an issue
MajorBiscuit has joined #haiku
<Begasus> somewhere in the build here it failed because it didn't find the main header there, but need a re-check (it's not that fast here) :)
<jmairboeck> today it didn't build everything, could be that an old build was reused
<jmairboeck> only web2c and xdvipdfm-x were actually rebuilt, because those are the configure scripts that are patched
<jmairboeck> maybe I should also rebuild it completely again to check that
<Begasus> doesn't hurt to double check

<jmairboeck> Begasus: I think not finding fontconfig might be a problem indeed. xelatex doesn't find dejavu fonts, even though they are installed. I'll have to investigate this.
<Begasus> Is dejavu font provided by another recipe?
<Begasus> maybe add it in REQUIRES?
<jmairboeck> that doesn't help unfortunately
<Begasus> bugger, would be my first thought
<jmairboeck> I suspect that it is caused by the fontconfig problem
<Begasus> yeah, presume that could use some TLC
<Begasus> ok, pulled your latest change, cleaned the build, fresh build on the way
<Begasus> crossing fingers *
<Begasus> jmairboeck, it's a good thing you parted the core package from the rest, saves me a rebuild for the large (sub)packages ;)
<jmairboeck> in this case it was easy and it makes sense, because the source tarballs are also different
<Begasus> k, fork OK, sub repo's OK, local recipes updated and build directories cleaned :D
<Begasus> gdal still building on the buildmaster(s)
<jmairboeck> I was thinking about splitting lilypond and its documentation also in two recipes like we do in openSUSE but they come from the same source tarball and it would be a bit messy probably
<jmairboeck> building the lilypond documentation takes quite long unfortunately
<Begasus> jmairboeck, just make a subpackage in the recipe then? PROVIDES_doc for instance?
<jmairboeck> yes, that is what I have done
<Begasus> ah, should be ok then
<Begasus> haven't been able to check (pulled the recipe), texlive_core needs to be sorted here first
BrunoSpr has joined #haiku
<jmairboeck> in openSUSE it is split into two spec files (see https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/multimedia:apps/lilypond), but it gets a bit complicated
<jmairboeck> you can build the documentation with a pre-installed lilypond binary but it is cleaner when building it as part of the normal build
<Begasus> k, it seems to split the doc packages also into the seperate languages there?
<jmairboeck> yes, I have done that also
<Begasus> ;)
<jmairboeck> the main doc package with english and general docs is still 117 MB
<Begasus> should look there before I comment ;)
<jmairboeck> it was nearly double of that before enabling extractpdfmark
<Begasus> well, if you look at the LO recipe, it does about the same I think?
<jmairboeck> yes, I don't think that size is a problem
<jmairboeck> and the docs are not required for functioning, they are available online too
<jmairboeck> the main package of lilypond is 6.7 MiB on x86_64
<jmairboeck> containing the binary and required runtime data
<Begasus> cmd:guile < 2 is provided by the base package?
<jmairboeck> no, that is provided by guile1_tools
BrunoSpr has quit [Quit: Vision[]: i've been shreederd!]
<Begasus> ah, are there multiple version?
<jmairboeck> or guile1_x86_tools on 32 bit
<jmairboeck> guile_tools also provides cmd:guile but that is for version 2
<jmairboeck> and using version 1 is recommended for lilypond
<jmairboeck> maybe we should add a suffix "1" to the guile 1 binaries so that threy don't provide both the same
<jmairboeck> I think most Linux distributions do that (if they even still provide guile 1 at all)
tqh has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<Begasus> or you could use that (but I guess it serves the same)
<Begasus> should be good
<jmairboeck> my question was rather if we should call the "guile" binary "guile1" so that it doesn't conflict with guile from version 2
<jmairboeck> but that is a question for the guile1 recipe itself
<Begasus> right, as I mentioned on the lua PR, some conflicts there
<Begasus> someting like CONFLICT_tools ...
<jmairboeck> I would rather rename the binary for guile 1
<jmairboeck> at least openSUSE does that
BrunoSpr has joined #haiku
<nephele> jmairboeck: you can just sa guile >= 2 in your recipe
<Begasus> an option too, but you should check if somethings require either one
<nephele> I don't see why you would need both versions installed at the same time
<nephele> that would be the only case where a conflict matters
<Begasus> Depends if they are needed at runtime or not I guess nephele ?
<jmairboeck> nephele: I used "cmd:guile < 2" specifically to get the correct version that I want
<jmairboeck> if you have different apps installed that need different versions, you have a problem
<jmairboeck> that is similar to python
<Begasus> doggy time, bbl
<Begasus> jmairboeck, thanks the guys from openSUSE (fixed my day for xygrib) :)
tqh has joined #haiku
<Begasus> jmairboeck, just saw it builds the sources for lua53, couldn't you add that as a dependency (should reduce the build time I guess)?
<Begasus> luajit ...
<jmairboeck> that is unfortunately not supported I suppose. I used all the --with-system-* flags to configure that are available and make sense
<jmairboeck> maybe it could be patched, but I doubt it. They probably use modified versions
<Begasus> OK
<jmairboeck> like with xpdf for example, they also include a modified copy of that
<jmairboeck> up until 2020 they supported using poppler instead but dropped support for that in 2021
<Begasus> yeah, recently updated one (or commented on a PR) about cms2
<jmairboeck> the "texlua" and "texluajit" libraries are even provided by the recipe, probably that is that
<jmairboeck> and not the original lua and luajit
<Begasus> They just passed by in the builld when I saw them, just wanted to mention :)
<jmairboeck> I think I confused fontconfig with freetype earlier
<Begasus> Build for those 2 doesn't take up to much time, so shouldn't be an issue
<Begasus> so far (crossing fingers) build is still running
<jmairboeck> I think I saw something mentioned about fontconfig earlier regarding the DejaVu fonts issue, but the problem you mentioned was about freetype
<Begasus> yeah, my issue was about freetype
<Begasus> xpdf now ...
<jmairboeck> that is a modified version turned into a library, but originally based on the standalone xpdf application (that we also have)
<Begasus> repology doens't report a version for xpdf
<Begasus> (for openSUSE)
<jmairboeck> I meant Haiku
<Begasus> yeah, was just checking xpdf on repology, only 2 mentions for libxpdf
<Begasus> gdal finished succesfully on buildmaster(s) :)
<Begasus> might be worth looking into?

<jmairboeck> and autoconf actually creating a new configure script
<Begasus> it's still building, so got a bit of hope this will go right
<Begasus> yeah, it's configuring and building the binaries atm
<Begasus> so far references to -I(freetype) look ok also
<Begasus> not sure why it failed there before ...
<jmairboeck> I think it actually falls back to pkg-config if freetype-config is not found, so that should still work
