<BroderTuck>
apritzel: Yeah, it was just a typo in my boot.scr that stopped it from working, can now ssh into it. Serial bootlog: https://palvencia.se/proplus.txt
<junari>
jernej: I modified your code a bit to work with DDR3 and I have no problem determining the amount of memory
<jernej>
junari: on T527?
<junari>
jernej: H728
<jernej>
same die, right?
<junari>
Yes
<jernej>
thanks, that's great hint where to look for issues
<jernej>
so you have working DRAM driver now for your board?
<junari>
But I can't boot up any further than SPL. It is possible that this is due to an incorrect AT-F
<jernej>
can you by any chance implement some simple memtest after DRAM init? you can copy code from systerkit
<jernej>
just to confirm that DRAM works well
<BroderTuck>
junari: Just curious, are you working on the X96QPro+ or some other device?

apritzel: In case you missed it: I posted a bootlog earlier today
<apritzel>
yeah, saw that, well done. So you have serial now, I guess?
<BroderTuck>
Yeah
<BroderTuck>
seems we have some users of that box now, at least you, me, warpme, junari
<apritzel>
jernej: is your Avaota also very picky about entering FEL mode? I seem to need to boot something (vendorish) first, then reset to FEL?
<apritzel>
BroderTuck: so what's your plan now?
<jernej>
apritzel: I don't think so, but I'm not completely sure what you mean? I have v1.3 of the board.
<jernej>
and FEL button works fine
<BroderTuck>
Unsure. I know that getting anything out over hdmi is probaly still far off, but I'm hoping that at least usb3 and smp won't take too long to materialize (plus of course properly mainlined dram init and general uboot) I'm not much of a developer, might make small hacks if needed.
<apritzel>
well, I would very much appreciate any test reports for (upcoming) patches, here and on mailing lists

<BroderTuck>
apritzel: Certainly.
<BroderTuck>
Well, I know what the first step is, at least: flesh out the miniroot with (a lot of) installpkg-ing

apritzel: it seems that sunxi-fel tool works bad even with your fixes on avaota a1

BroderTuck has quit [Quit: Läggdags]
<apritzel>
jernej: but it is the tool, really? I don't even see the USB device, and FEL works nicely on the X96QPro+ box
<apritzel>
I feel like more it's a power issue? Looks like the RGB is always dim when FEL is not working
<jernej>
which version of the board do you have?
<jernej>
I see FEL just fine and SPL can be uploaded and executed, fortunately
<jernej>
but uboot command doesn't work even if SPL returns to FEL
<jernej>
but next FEL command, like ver, executes fine immediatelly after that
<jernej>
but power managing is fun for sure
<jernej>
currently I'm running memory test and seems to work fine, after *both* pmics are set from SPL properly
<jernej>
there is also confusion with board schematic (be sure to download proper version from github) and PMIC datasheet - AXP717C has DCDC4, but some datasheets don't describe it
<apritzel>
I have v1.3, which indeed seems to have known issues
<apritzel>
jernej: are you sure you need the AXP323 in the SPL already? This looks annoying, as we only support one AXP in the SPL at the moment
<apritzel>
we have proper DT driven AXP support for U-Boot proper, which brings up every rail marked as always-on automatically
<jernej>
not completely sure, I'm testing various hypothesis right now
<jernej>
but, if you check schematic, you'll see that axp323 is reset by bldo2 line from axp717c
<apritzel>
jernej: according to my notes, ALDO and DLDO are not connected, DCDC1/2 supply the secondary cores, and DCDC3 supplies the ARISC
<apritzel>
I can check later what the reset defaults for the AXP323 are, but I thing we should be fine
gsz has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<jernej>
yeah, seems fine without it
<jernej>
while memory test works fine, I'm unable to move past SPL, either via FEL or SD card
<apritzel>
ah, I see this, too, and thought it was a problem with my setup ...
<apritzel>
sounds debuggable, though, let me have a look ...
<apritzel>
I saw some hacks in their TF-A setup (bringing down the GIC, some ominous NSI init, etc.), so there are more surprises there, I guess
<apritzel>
but it should work without TF-A, at least with a single core
<jernej>
you have nsi init routine in systerkit
<jernej>
I guess it's just replacement for mbus init
<apritzel>
yeah, but I saw more references to nsi inside their bl31.bin
<jernej>
still, lpddr4 size detection still doesn't work
<jernej>
apritzel: I pushed my latest changes
<apritzel>
jernej: so what works for you, and how? You boot into FEL, execute the SPL, then manually load up U-Boot proper?
<apritzel>
trying to replicate your setup/workflow, so that I can merge in my changes
<apritzel>
at the moment I see it booting from SD, but then hanging at "Trying to boot from MMC1". Booting via FEL hangs during the DRAM init (Just seeing "DRAM:")
<jernej>
I boot to FEL (no SD card inserted), using your branch of sunxi-tools I load u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin, which initializes DRAM and returns to FEL, but sunxi-fel is unable to continue
<jernej>
I'm stuck here and I was not able to load U-Boot proper yet
<apritzel>
ah, I see, thanks
<jernej>
if I flash everything to SD card, I get stuck at trying to boot from MMC1
<jernej>
I was sure that DRAM is not initialized properly, but memory test (at least first 32 MB) works fine and reports no errors
