<grid> stintel: looking at the vendor fw for m300, the dts makes it seem like the whole thing is just a LANNER appliance: label = "NOR (RW) LANNER RCW Code";
<grid> i guess they were only available to OEMs unlike their x86 stuff though
<grid> looks like there's a "lannerboot" alias in u-boot default env too

<_ppp> hi. I have a question about socat: is it not compiled with openssl support? (target ramips/mt7621, router = xiaomi mi r3g). more generally: is there a way to check build logs for a given package/target?
<PaulFertser> _ppp: https://git.openwrt.org/?p=feed/packages.git;a=blob;f=net/socat/Makefile;h=081563f32fb7095ef0be7cd8a008f364ec60ec56;hb=HEAD
<_ppp> PaulFertser, I had seen that file, openssl support is optional
<PaulFertser> _ppp: yes, and you see the config option that enables it. And it defaults to n. You can check config file for your build to see if it was enabled.
<PaulFertser> _ppp: another way to check is with "ldd $(which socat)"
<_ppp> PaulFertser, right, I had forgotten about ldd. thanks
<_ppp> will have to compile it locally :/

<johnf> how can I validate the link status for an interface that uses a bridge, is it in ifstatus?
<johnf> I'm working on this fix but would like to see that it's actually working
<swiftgeek> I guess there is absolutely no way to poke them about that EPC3925 patch anymore? (I didn't see any mention to patch location) , https://bpa.st/62HQ https://xkcd.com/979/
<PaulFertser> johnf: on DSA or swconfig?
<johnf> I'm not sure to be honest, I'll see the port in swconfig
<johnf> that's not an issue
<johnf> this is what would be driven by target/linux/ath79/generic/base-files/etc/board.d/02_network
<PaulFertser> johnf: if it's using swconfig then "swconfig dev switch0 show" will give you the link status.
<johnf> yes, I think what the goal here is, through that configuration file, to bring the link state of port 4 down to the lan interface as seen by uci / luci / whatever
<johnf> we're always going to see eth0 (CPU to switch chip) as up

<aiyion> johnf: no problem. The whole learning/"trial'n'error"-curve of device trees and what to keep in mind while porting ar71xx to ath79 is just a little much for me...
<stintel> rsalvaterra: the problem is not in musl
<stintel> well. partially
<stintel> you need ELFv2 on musl ppc64, regardless of endianness
<stintel> OpenSSL doesn't like that
<stintel> but I fixed it already
<rsalvaterra> Ah, well sounds like SEP to me. :P
<stintel> SEP ?
<rsalvaterra> Somebody else's problem.
<stintel> I found this old commit: https://git.openwrt.org/869c4756
<stintel> any thoughts about that ?
<stintel> seems a bit overkill to send to ML for review :P
<rsalvaterra> Uh? Xfrm requires IPv6…?
<stintel> not XFRM, XFRM interfaces
lmore377 has joined #openwrt-devel
<rsalvaterra> Weird, indeed.
<rsalvaterra> Fortunately I don't use IPSec… :P
<stintel> ah well, sent it to ML anyway
<stintel> clean up my m300 branch, this is mostly working on Firebox M300 (e6500)
<stintel> https://git.openwrt.org/?p=openwrt/staging/stintel.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/m300
<stintel> I might send this as RFC soon
<rsalvaterra> stintel: Wait, how many ethX interfaces does that thing have?
<stintel> 8
<stintel> soc has 5
<stintel> so 3 real, 2 to the mv88x
<stintel> and 5 switchports
<rsalvaterra> That's really nice.
<rsalvaterra> Two ports to the switch? Omnia-style?
<stintel> unfortunately 5.10 DSA doesn't support >1 CPU port
<rsalvaterra> Yeah, it's the same as the Omnia.
<stintel> well that's what I suspect anyway
<stintel> the OEM DTS is full of lies
<stintel> the switch isn't even in there
<Slimey> heh
<rsalvaterra> Still, that's way better than the APU2.
<stintel> and apparently *much* faster
<Slimey> haha would a dev be interested in me donating a t1023 target :P

<stintel> Slimey: is it much different from T1042 ?
<stintel> that's what's in the M200
<stintel> lol I got so excited that I added one of my 2 M300s in my rack already :P
<rsalvaterra_> stintel: Wait, you have *two*…?
<stintel> yes
<stintel> redundant or gtfo ;)
<stintel> so T1023/T1024/T1042 are e5500
<rsalvaterra_> I… guess?
<rsalvaterra_> Jeez… :P
<rsalvaterra_> e5500 has this nasty thing with musl, which is the lack of AltiVec…
<stintel> yeah
<rsalvaterra_> AltiVecless, I just made a word up. :P
<stintel> https://git.openwrt.org/?p=openwrt/staging/stintel.git;a=blob;f=toolchain/musl/patches/999-musl-drop-vx-insns.patch;h=9f3fdd03ead542351990009d3841daa036932695;hb=refs/heads/m200
<stintel> : P
<stintel> there I fixed it 😂
<rsalvaterra_> Hey, it's a hack, but it's clean. No vector registers to save, no problem. :P
<stintel> Slimey: if you want to run OpenWrt on T10xx, I suggest you start with musl...
<Slimey> yup
<stintel> I've been in the musl IRC channel about that before
<Slimey> i was going to use your git for guidance
<stintel> someone would look into it but never happened
<stintel> if you manage to convince someone in that community to properly fix that, the rest might not be too hard
<stintel> also if you're doing ppc64, you need to make sure CONFIG_THREAD_SHIFT=14 is in your target kernel config
<Slimey> i think i have to for that cpu
<rsalvaterra_> About the thread shift…
* rsalvaterra_ goes to look at his Power Mac G5 kconfig…
<stintel> without that, you'll have constant random crashes
<rsalvaterra_> CONFIG_THREAD_SHIFT=14
<rsalvaterra_> Checks out!
<stintel> it's the default for ppc64, but only for ppc64 afaik, and generic config in openwrt has CONFIG_THREAD_SHIFT=13
<rsalvaterra_> I know, because I *definitely* fiddled with lower values until it got stable.
<stintel> so easily overlooked, pita to track down if it's just random crashes
Acinonyx has joined #openwrt-devel
<rsalvaterra_> stintel: I had a x86-64 machine running a 4k-stacks kernel very recently, with no issues whatsoever. ;)
<rsalvaterra_> I wouldn't recommend it, though… they've been recently bumped to 16k, iirc.
Acinonyx_ has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<stintel> ok, cleaned it up some more
<stintel> this will end up easy to review, lol did not expect that
<johnf> stintel: I think I was here when you made that xfrm patch
<johnf> yeah, though the links are dead now
<rsalvaterra_> stintel: Heh, it's a completely new architecture, even being a subtarget… I'm not seeing it breaking any existing systems. Should be easy enough to review. :)
<owrt-snap-builds> Build [#216](https://buildbot.openwrt.org/master/images/#builders/49/builds/216) of `mvebu/cortexa53` completed successfully.
<stintel> johnf: :)
<stintel> does anyone know why whe enable CONFIG_RCU_EXPERT in generic ?
<stintel> similar problem to THREAD_SHIFT ... CONFIG_RCU_EXPERT=y exposes CONFIG_RCU_FANOUT which is 32 in generic config, but should be 64 on 64 bit platforms
<stintel> I will make a patch
<stintel> and send it to ML, can discuss there

<stintel> so, here's probably a dumb question ... the m300 with my current dts is like this: port 0 = eth4, port 1 = eth 0, port 2 = eth1. I want port 0 to be eth0, port1 to be eth1, etc
<stintel> can this be done by moving around the phy's on the dts, or is this limited by how they are wired on the boardf
<stintel> actually I think I might be able to move things around in the DTS
<stintel> doesn't look like it though :(
