Do i need to put a mutex around usb_getconfig/usb_setconfig ? i am not sure if the config can be modified by another driver while my driver is doing that.

<ConditionBoy>
good lord, i can't even run `git status` without haiku freezing
<ConditionBoy>
like, what the actual for real heck is wrong with my haiku and/or the way i'm running it that i seem to be the only person here whose system is utterly, ridiculously unstable?
<nephele[m]>
what VM are you using?
<ConditionBoy>
qemu/kvm
<nephele[m]>
with q35?
<ConditionBoy>
via virtual machine manager on kubuntu 20.10
<ConditionBoy>
don't know what that means
<nephele[m]>
libvirt or so? q35 is a newer mainboard for qemu to be emulated

<ConditionBoy>
i don't remember
<ConditionBoy>
i didn't set anything special up
<ConditionBoy>
i was not led to believe that would be necessary
<ConditionBoy>
so it's just however stuff sets itself up by default
<nephele[m]>
Thats fine too, it isnt supposed to freeze ;)
<ConditionBoy>
i've never used this setup before, but personally, i think it sucks
<nephele[m]>
but it would be interesting what stuff differs in your setup so it can be disected to a particular config or set of configs perhaps
<ConditionBoy>
but this was the way i was pushed to go for virtualisation over virtualbox
<nephele[m]>
in any case, please open a ticket

<nephele[m]>

<ConditionBoy>
sorry, i'm going to go rant at a wall or something
<ConditionBoy>
virt-manager
<ConditionBoy>
"powered by libvirt" it says
<ConditionBoy>
ooh, fun, a red hat product
<ConditionBoy>
no wonder it hates me lol
<ConditionBoy>
seriously, does this company pay people to go around downvoting anything to do with competitors and upvoting anything to do with them?
<nephele[m]>
I tries to run haiku in gnome boxes once, but the config it used was really wierd
<nephele[m]>
and gnome had no way to change the config tok
<nephele[m]>
too*
<ConditionBoy>
this is balls
<ConditionBoy>
why did i ever start working with computers?
<ConditionBoy>
because i hate them so much
<ConditionBoy>
okay, for real going to go rant at a tree to spare you all the outpoor of emotions i need to have right now\

bitigchi i am struggling to write a usb driver :)
<bitigchi>
Anarchos: you are pretty well above my grade
<bitigchi>
is the issue with Haiku or you're stuck?
<Anarchos>
bitigchi i just want to write myself the driver for the touchscreen of my laptop, which is not recognized by the haiku official usb_hid driver
<bitigchi>
i see. i presume you have checked with the nightlies, which includes the new i2c_hid driver
<nephele[m]>
that is merged already?
<bitigchi>
yup
<Anarchos>
bitigchi not yet, anyway i am interested in learning to write drivers by myself
<bitigchi>

i am trying to use Pe to edit html files but it keeps opening me this HTML Palette which, due to some missing files i guess, is empty besides the "New" on top. Also, same with the Glossary which doesn't keep opening on its own tho
