<augiedoggie>
was nice to have it built in to beshare though

Aha! I was more or less counting on an Aussie to be awake already! :-P
<OscarL>
Good day to you, augiedoggie!
<augiedoggie>
good evening
<OscarL>
Greeting from the wee hours from Argentina :-D
<augiedoggie>
it's about to be wee hours here, need to go to bed soon
<OscarL>
(my "English" is prettry broken and poorly self-taught, so no wonder I used that expression in a wrong way :-(...)
<augiedoggie>
no, i think you have it right
<OscarL>
Ah, ok. I think I got that "wee hours" from reading some book from Stephen King in the 90s.
<OscarL>
But I can never be sure about my usage of the English language :-(
<augiedoggie>
it just means really late at night or early morning
<OscarL>
Cool! thanks a lot!

In any case... I'm just happy to be able to exchange some words with people around the globe :-D

Hello PulkoMandy! And now that I have the opportunity... thanks a lot for all your Haiku-related work! It is much apprecieated!!!
<OscarL>
(despite the broken "English" in the above sentence :-P)
<PulkoMandy>
Thanks for your work as well, it's nice to see more people fixing bugs and not just complaining in the forums :>
<OscarL>
PulkoMandy: LOL! :-D Thanks... too bad that some of those bugs are due to my poor code from 2004-6 :-D
<PulkoMandy>
The only way to make no mistakes is to do nothing at all. I create a lot of bugs too
<OscarL>
Man... I just always loved the BeOS/Haiku "vibe"... more reacently... you, Jérôme, Augustin, Begasus, X512... (and in the past: AxelD, JackBurton, Stippi, RudolfC, et al) always made me feel welcome, even if I always was... as Andrew Bachmann once put it: "BiPolar... you are weird" :-D

I just wish I could fix the problems with the serial drirvers (specially regarding timeouts)... It has been kicking my brain's ass for the last month at least :-D
<OscarL>
BTW, PulkoMandy: I pushed another change on that checkstyle.py script that you so generoursly have +2 in a previous review. I just had forgoten to test it with directories as arguments. Maybe you could take a look at https://review.haiku-os.org/c/haiku/+/5696 to see if I missed something.

I understand it is a very low prio thing! But as long as the checkstyle.py script is mentioned on the "how to contribute" docs...., might as well make sure it at least runs, no? :-D

win8linux: yes, like x512 said. installing reFind is basically just adding it to the fallback efi path if you can't edit the EFI keys to make it use another location
<nephele>
LinuxUserHaiku: if you omit the shebang line the OS or shell may use an interpreter you don't expect and that doesn't work with the script, it's easiest to just keep "#!sh" in which is the shortest shebang line you would need in Haiku usually

each card has 2 numbers to be identified : the vendor => intel, amd, creative ...
<matt3>
and device => the model => intel ich9 ... intel ich10 ...
<nephele>
I know what device ids are, i don't know what you are trying to say though
<matt3>
I was reviewing ...
<matt3>
to do better ...
<nephele>
reviewing? you mean the commit?
<nephele>
you can do that on the review tool if you want :)
<matt3>
ie : if you have 2 intel audio ich9 => vendor intel + device ich9 + serial1 or serial 2
<matt3>
ok ...
<matt3>
i suggest to do better : vendor + model + device ... ;D
<nephele>
we can't really change this, it's just the way devices identify themselves
<matt3>
ok

Wondering if PING on IRC is channel specific. At least for Vision, which window does it show up in?

OK, seems to be whatever channel is currently on top and visible in Vision.

Also goes into the log for that window.

(AGMS) OK, now testing B2IA (Beshare to IRC Bridge) with a PING after 15 minuites of nothing to see if Vision is dead, or the channel is quiet (too quiet!). Should avoid having B2IA restarting once in a while when it doesn't need to.

(AGMS) And that PING test is useless, since the outgoing PING (even if the network is dead) generates log activity, which makes the watchdog happy.

i like the idea a lot that said. In R2 it would be cool to be able to copy and paste any part of any app as a replicant without having to program it.
