clover[m]: when i tried the latest rc, i was getting dummy output until i chose pro audio from pavucontrol for some reason, so that may be something for users to check as well if they start getting it
<agl7>
clover[m] & steev: In my sound configuration there is only one new device called "Speaker playback Internal Audio" no "Dummy output" device. All works with this new device!
<steev>
agl7: good to know
<steev>
unfortunately... audio changed between 6.4 and 6.5, though i do believe i properly got everything into 6.4 so it's now done the same way in my 6.4 tree
<agl7>
ok, then I will try it under Debian, where I have not yet 6.5. Will see if the sound works louder.
<agl7>
In this MOment I run EOS.

steev: I'am compiling your 6.4.y linux-kernel. Is there some installations like firmware or some thing for sound necessary with your new kernel?

steev: Under 6.3.10, your new kernel, there is only the "dummy device" for selection in the selection box. Under 6.4.3 there are the speakers. It seams it is necessary to update firmware and some things for sound!!!

<Jasper[m]>
Someone had a nice github repo with instructions to update the firmware on the x13s, does anyone have a link?
<Jasper[m]>
I can't seem to find it in the archives sadly

Replies work, they show up as a partial embed of the message that they're responding to. Plus your message at the end

answering my own question: its 6.4.10
<clover[m]>
thanks HdkR
<steev>
agl7: yes, i saidthis repeatedly
<steev>
audio was reworked in 6.5. i backported this to 6.4
<agl7>
steev & clover[m] : Under Debian with kernel 6.4.10 (of steev) all works again. The sound is loud and there is NO "Dummy device". Thank you for the work of all which makes the sound for the x13s!!!
<akaWolf>
sound is very distorted sometimes
<clover[m]>
sound is fine here. pushed new linux-x13s and linux-firmware for arch / eos users
<robclark>
iirc sound too loud / distorted was an issue of needing newer fw and/or alsa ucm stuff with newer kernel
