robclark changed the topic of #aarch64-laptops to: Linux support for AArch64 Laptops (Chrome OS Trogdor Devices - Asus NovaGo TP370QL - HP Envy x2 - Lenovo Mixx 630 - Lenovo Yoga C630 - Lenovo ThinkPad X13s - and various other snapdragon laptops) - https://oftc.irclog.whitequark.org/aarch64-laptops
<steev>
fun fact, you can send emails to the mailing lists for the patches that you test to let the devs know you tested it and it doesn't break things, when it doesn't (or you can tell them that it does, when it does!)
<steev>
and sometimes you have to convince them that it's not a patch you are testing that is causing it and can reproduce it without the patches too ;)

i sent a tested email on v8 of that patch but i think i did it wrong
<abby>
does it need the proposed tested-by trailer in it or something?
<bamse>
abby: if you send a "i tested this and it looks good", then that helps us maintainers...but it won't make it into the git history
<bamse>
abby: if you send a Tested-by: Foo Bar <foo@bar.baz> then our tooling will pick that up and you'll get credit in the git history

ack

good to know for the future

I think it's possible Fedora 40 doesn't support MediaTek based SoCs/GPUs
<Dylanger[m]>
MESA-LOADER: failed to open vgem: /usr/lib64/dri/vgem_dri.so: cannot open shared object file I could also possibly just be missing this
<robclark>
why is it trying to use VGEM.. we've disabled that in CrOS kernel, you should do.. (unrelated to why it isn't working, but it will get rid of that particular error msg)

It was working fine as F39

I'm not sure

I'm using a custom kernel with a bunch of stuff disabled to keep it smaller
