<Jasper[m]> Yep same

<clover[m]> if you dont mind!
<Jasper[m]> clover[m]: To be clear, display out from separate usbc ports, internal display
<Jasper[m]> And is this from boot or on hotplug?
<clover[m]> separate usb-c ports, hotplug
<Jasper[m]> Okay, I'll reboot and try it out
<maz> oh well, guess I'll continue to work on NV support on M2 instead...
<Jasper[m]> maz: As opposed to what?
<Jasper[m]> Also what's NV? Nvidia?
<maz> Jasper[m]: as opposed to using x1e.
<maz> nested virt.
<Jasper[m]> Ahh nice
<maz> no, not nice. that's exactly my point.
<Jasper[m]> Well nice for the Apple people, less nice for the X1E people
<Jasper[m]> Lose lose for you, assuming you may lose some sanity along the way?
<maz> I've lost it many years ago.
<Jasper[m]> <clover[m]> "separate usb-c ports, hotplug" <- Found a cable I can use, device is still charging since it died while sleeping :(
<Jasper[m]> It's doing the classic power led on black screen fully discharged combo
<JensGlathe[m]> what is needed for nested virt, EL2 control?
<travmurav[m]> maz: ugh and I guess you need nested because some funny asahi firmware needs to run or there is some more special purpose for that?
<Jasper[m]> Jasper[m]: Yeah alright this is gonna take a little bit. Forcing it off and trying again flashes the battery screen once and turns off again
<Jasper[m]> It does make me wonder why vendors still don't do charging from 0% well :/
<JensGlathe[m]> never happens when they test, the people testing care too much for the hw
<Jasper[m]> What was the pinhole button for the ec reset again?
<Jasper[m]> I feel like that thing is causing issues
<travmurav[m]> bottom middle near the screw, need to unplug charger
<travmurav[m]> since it only disconnects the battery
* travmurav[m] wonders how he knows this better than real x13s owners
<Jasper[m]> travmurav[m]: I mean I solved it before by just leaving it charging for a bit
<Jasper[m]> Hahahhaa
<Jasper[m]> But if this is quicker, that's always a win
possiblemeatball has joined #aarch64-laptops
<Jasper[m]> <travmurav[m]> "since it only disconnects the..." <- Well it does make it actually try to boot which is good
<Jasper[m]> Also funny, if you leave it plugged in it also just tries and gives up
<Jasper[m]> Not repeatedly, just sometimss
<Jasper[m]> Backlight is also just on
<Jasper[m]> Don't mind the mess, but @clover it seems to work
<Jasper[m]> not at full res, but that may have a myriad of reasons
<Jasper[m]> s/res/refreshrate/
<Jasper[m]> Okay I tried turning off hdmi compat mode and now it's uhh
<Jasper[m]> Flashing this a lot, very quickly
<Jasper[m]> Not sure if it's supposed to handle 3440x1440@85Hz though hahaha
<Jasper[m]> 50Hz works fine
<Jasper[m]> What was the path to fetch the amount of used dp lanes again?
<JensGlathe[m]> sudo cat /sys/kernel/debug/dri/ae01000.display-controller/DP-?/dp_debug
<clover[m]> Steev: will you push 6.9.4?
<Jasper[m]> JensGlathe[m]: >num_lsnes = 2
<Jasper[m]> ok
<Jasper[m]> * >num_lanes = 2
<JensGlathe[m]> This explains the non-sync
<JensGlathe[m]> But shouldn't this screen use 4 lanes, or do you have an adapter on it
<Jasper[m]> It's a ugreen usbc to hdmi cable
<Jasper[m]> *adapter
<JensGlathe[m]> it might limit it, that's an adapter
possiblemeatball has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<JensGlathe[m]> I have one with 2 and one with 4 lanes (paid extra attention when buying).
<Jasper[m]> JensGlathe[m]: This one should do HDMI2.0 speeds
<Jasper[m]> I'll check DP1.4 using the other adapter
<travmurav[m]> iirc 2 lanes top out at 2k60 ish bandwith wise
<Jasper[m]> Yeah seems about right
<travmurav[m]> so it makes sense it won't work at >2k 85 xD
<Jasper[m]> 2560x1440p right?
<Jasper[m]> Yeah I have a bit more horizontal space hahahaha
<travmurav[m]> so I guess it makes perfect sense that it works at 2k+ 50
<Jasper[m]> This is currently a driver limitation right? Otherwise I'll leave the DP cable in my desktop
possiblemeatball has joined #aarch64-laptops
<JensGlathe[m]> I have a 4k@60 screen (3840x2160) on with 4 lanes via DP (Volterra), but if I actually want it to return from suspend I need to limit it to 2560x1440. Also, using fractional scaling might cause it to switch to twice the res, which the display shows abbreviated. A little mysterious all this, but 4k@60 stopped working for me ~6.6 reliably, and sorta completely ~6.7.
<Jasper[m]> Sounds like it may be a bit less annoying to figure out when the usbc stuff gets merged
<JensGlathe[m]> Oh and it is 4 lanes actually... (full message at <https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/uyjJncJKngFIOeoHYsOzyitA>)
<JensGlathe[m]> I think the resume stuff is msm, jhovold got bitten by it in the 6.8 cycle, afair
<steev> clover[m]: no, but i'll push 6.9.5
<Jasper[m]> JensGlathe[m]: > <@jglathe:matrix.org> Oh and it is 4 lanes actually... (full message at <https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/rrcvyFzlrPlnSmwuZUWCXZdW>)
<JensGlathe[m]> but the endpoint driver is sc8280xp-dp afair
<JensGlathe[m]> could/should be the same for USB-C, not sure
<Jasper[m]> <JensGlathe[m]> "Oh and it is 4 lanes actually..." <- > <@jglathe:matrix.org> Oh and it is 4 lanes actually... (full message at <https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/oJfIKaBACpMdFAVKEqdynRDU>)
<Jasper[m]> not the crudely converted mDP port
<JensGlathe[m]> Oh it is the mDP port of Volterra
