Does anyone know what kernel module I need to add to initramfs to get my yubikey working in initramfs? I want to use it to decrypt my luks partition, but since going from the 6.6 kernel it stopped working
<JensGlathe[m]>
looked like HIDRAW the last time this was discussed here, don't konw if more's required
<martiert>
ack, I'll try to add that. Thanks

hello, do you guys have any idea how the x elite is going to look like in terms of support? Lenovo recently removed the x13s with ambigous notes on different sites whether it will be available again or not. I'm trying to gauge if/when the new x elites will have feature parity with the current state of x13s. Alternatively if you anybody has any info on the x13s future
<kalebris>
availability, would be greatly appreciated :)
<Jasper[m]>
Absolutely no clue
<Jasper[m]>
Either no one has such a device here or is allowed to talk about it.
<Jasper[m]>
Best you can do is wait for the Device Trees and wiki pages to show up.
<Jasper[m]>
Safe to say Qualcomm is doing full commitment to this SoC and platform so availability should be much better in general
<\[m]>
is x13s not available to buy anymore?
<kalebris>
thanks Jasper[m], will keep tabs on it.
<kalebris>
\[m]: i couldn't find any lenovo site (.com, .at, .de, .nl, .hu) that showed it as currently available :(
<kalebris>
i was about to pull the trigger on it but I was a bit too late it seems :(
<Jasper[m]>
kalebris: Oh yeah don't bother
<Jasper[m]>
If you really want to, try second hand
<kalebris>
yeah, I'm looking for a 32gig ram with 5g version, but no dice on ebay, will need to find some local markets for second hand devices
<\[m]>
sad, it's such a good laptop but so they sold out huh

I found one issue already: looks like without QC EL2, Secure Monitor scribbles over more registers than I expected
<bluerise>
but I still see random crashes once userland runs... not sure if that's PCIe or something else, oh well.

You can get to userspace without QC's EL2?

bluerise more details?
<JensGlathe[m]>
I guess I can't really clarify since I also don't know what bluerise is trying to do
<steev>
fwiw, i pushed my rc3 2 days ago, but didn't announce it
<JensGlathe[m]>
steev: any additional fixes on this one?
rigo has joined #aarch64-laptops
<steev>
just updated patchsets of what i already had. and i thought i'd dropped the make it hotter patch, but apparently i'm still carrying that in the rc
<steev>
obvs based on johan's rc3
<JensGlathe[m]>
that bt fwname patch is also still there I assume
<steev>
nope
<steev>
that was also dropped in favor of the latest firmware in.... linux-firmware
<steev>
i want to redo it, so that it only loads the b8c if it exists instead of always, and not falling back

<bluerise>
basically my SCM implementation only saved and restored 8 registers
<bluerise>
but reading the SMC calling convention, you might need to save/restore x0-x17
<bluerise>
So I fixed that, now my SMC calls don't crash anymore when I run as my own EL2
<bluerise>
I can also enumerate and bring up NVMe/WiFi by turning SMMUv3 *off*
<bluerise>
don't yet have a driver for the SMMUv3, so that was the easier way
<konradybcio>
also known as "leaving it in the unknown state that the previous boot stage configured it" :P
<konradybcio>
yeah no this piece of IP is not simple
<bluerise>
hahaha
<bluerise>
if someone had asked me to design a complex SoC, I couldn't have made it as complex as they did
<konradybcio>
let's just say these are not so complex to the OS anymore..
<konradybcio>
many things are abstracted to MCUs or secure monitor (or the hypervisor you just kicked)
<konradybcio>
used to be much worse
<bluerise>
yeah, but, apple makes those things not as complex for FW
<bluerise>
anyway, we gotta live with what we have
<konradybcio>
nobody said throwing MCUs and firmware at the problem in any way shape or form is an immediate solution.. some do it better than others
