does anyone know a way around blurry/pixelated fonts on external display on hyprland? In KDE settings it says 175% and works, but setting 1.75 scale in hyprland has major font blurriness/pixelation (for me)

hello, i have reinstalled asahi linux as fedora, but i am having trouble configuring SELinux. i'm not too familiar with fedora, can someone help please?
<nicolas17>
that may be more appropriate for a general fedora channel, it's not really specific to Apple hardware
<charnam>
oh, okay
<charnam>
thanks

whats the deal with power safety (?) / management? My understanding is that it works automatically on kde, but, if I went to hyprland or sway, would there be things i need to do manually? like battery protection etc

maybe for sleep but all the actual safety stuff is transparent

<GnarlyBob>
super newbie question, I suspect, but I haven't found anything documented that gives guidance. 2020 M1 Mini, 500GiB, macOS 14.2.1. I went with the defaults on the install script as far as partition shrinking and such, and ended up with only 84GiB for the Linux partition and ~400GiB still allocated to macOS. Is there a documented process to get to where I have just enough macOS to boot,
<GnarlyBob>
and the rest allocated to Linux?
<kidplayer666>
GnarlyBob: the installer i think asks you how much space you want to give to the linux partition and I am reasonably sure you can write max
<kidplayer666>
might be an out of date installer as my install is a few months old though

kidplayer666: thanks, I probably misunderstood the installer prompts - I specified "min", the default, assuming that was what I'd leave for macos. I will give that a try
<kidplayer666>
ah, makes sense. The installer probably refers to the size you want to give the partition you are creating, aka, the linux install
<GnarlyBob>
yeah, that actually makes more sense than what i had assumed

<Cyrille_>
I have a question or I suppose the answer is hard to say
<Cyrille_>
I read the November bulletin, particularly on USB 4
<Cyrille_>
Do you have any idea how the Thunderbolt (TB3) issue is progressing?
<Cyrille_>
I saw that it was quite complicated with the PHY driver
<sven>
slowly getting there, but there's not ETA
* eta
doesn't exist
<sven>
:D
<Cyrille_>
ETA ? date ?
<sven>
yeah, there's no date when it'll be done
<maz>
"Estimated Time of Arrival"
<Cyrille_>
and how do the updates work?
<Cyrille_>
What do you have to do?
<chadmed>
when it's ready, if all goes according to cake, you will just have to update your system
<chadmed>
as in, dnf upgrade --refresh

Hi, earlier today I switched to Fedora (it was way easier than I thought it would be) by copying my entire home folder over. Everything seems to work fine except audio, where my speakers aren't being recognised (they were recognised in the user I used to transfer the data). Does anybody know why it isn't working in the copied user?
<capta1nt0ad>
I can post an asahi-diagnose if needed.
<capta1nt0ad>
oh, asahi-diagnose said that my audio config is in an invalid state, will try that
<capta1nt0ad>
oh no the screenreader is on

If anybody knows how to remove the message from asahi-diagnose (it says that Pro Audio is enabled when it never was) that would be great, I have tried setting it using KDE's audio config tool and pavucontrol but the message still shows.
<j`ey>
capta1nt0ad: do you have a ~/.local/state/wireplumber/ folder? if so you can try move/delete it
<capta1nt0ad>
will move it to wireplumber-bak
<capta1nt0ad>
just want to note that I do have module-raop-sink enabled
<capta1nt0ad>
*module-raop-discover
<capta1nt0ad>
Thank you! restarted pipewire and wireplumber and the message is gone.
<j`ey>
but do speakers work?
wneuhaus has quit [Quit: Konversation terminated!]
<capta1nt0ad>
Weirdly yes, although asahi-diagnose seems to think not:

Pipewire macaudio profile is "none". Headphones and speakers will not work. Select the "Default" or "HiFi" profile.
<capta1nt0ad>
will do this
<capta1nt0ad>
headphones work as well, but like before Default is still selected in KDE Audio and pavucontrol.

is there a way to connect to a network when I enter an wm (hyprland for example) from sddm? Right now I have it executing 'nm-aplet --indicator' on session start, but since I don't have a tray it seems like a bit of a hack, I would rather execute the command to get it going
<june>
I tried `nmcli device set <interface name> autoconnect yes`. but that doesnt work
