<Skipp_OSX>
I'm really close here, I got Copy to work in Open/Save dialog in a context menu on a read-only volume, but it doesn't work in the File menu. The worst part is, it doesn't work on R1B4 either
<Skipp_OSX>
try it yourself to see
<Skipp_OSX>
well you don't get context menu because I added that but you do get File => Copy and that does NOT work in a Save dialog on read-only directory at least
<Skipp_OSX>
You can select it, it appears to work, but it doesn't actually copy the file, you can't paste it
<Skipp_OSX>
it works in a regular Tracker window just not Save dialog
<Skipp_OSX>
Open works... Save does not work hmmmmm
<Skipp_OSX>
aha I see the difference
<Skipp_OSX>
it's because when you click keyboard focus goes to the save box below, so the copy doesn't register
<Skipp_OSX>
and in an Open dialog there is no file name box below

Begasus, yup, Pe's on HaikuArchives.

Man, that was fast. Both builds OK.

Begasus if the drive has already some age... might be the cable/connectors? (I had one die that way, and the other was showing similar sympthoms, until I just converted it to an internal drive.
<OscarL_32>
*symptoms? English hard.
<Begas_VM>
it isn't that old OscarL_32 :)

re: external drives... well, maybe "moving it" to a new USB enclosure might not be a bad idea (IME, the usb-case fails far earlier than the actual HDD). Just an alternative to keep in mind.
<OscarL_32>
(and a cheaper alternative to buying a new drive). I'm all in for cheaper stuff :-D
<OscarL_32>
Begasus, neither were my two Seagate ones... it took some "convincing" with some sharp tools :-P

k, that should do it for libtool ...
<jezek2>
OscarL_32: btw interesting thing about HDDs is that most people get the reliability wrong, it is not that the older the HDD is the more suspectible to failure is, there is a very high probability that HDDs fail at around 2 years of service, but once they reach about 5/6 years they're good for decades (the bathtub curve applies)
<OscarL_32>
when (if?) we finish with the python update task... I want to take a look again at that trying to implement "pkgman list --not-needed"... we'll see.
<OscarL_32>
jezek2: indeeed :-D Still have a working Quantum Fireball 640 MB from 1996 :-D
<Begasus>
to find orphaned packages OscarL_32 ?
<jezek2>
(this metric assumes 24/7 service more or less)
<OscarL_32>
Begasus: yup.
<Begasus>
nice
<OscarL_32>
I did some research on that area... packagefs code is very hard to follow (for me at least), but I think I collected enough notes to more or less have a valid starting point.
<OscarL_32>
Just having problems maintaining focus, as usual :-P
<Begasus>
could save me a few hunderd of packages :)
<OscarL_32>
(also, seeing how pip implementes a similar command, was helpful)

I wish what when you click on the Workspaces' replicant (to change workpspace), it would set the focus to the top-most window automatically.
<OscarL_32>
Won't even look at that myself... need to avoid sidetracks, and I would probably not succeed anyway :-D
<OscarL_32>
yet... I remember that one patch for minimize_all had some code I could steal... mmm

would be nice yes :)

Either I'm too dump to find where Workspaces switches workspaces on click, or it just doesn't and is just passing the click throught an app_server side "workspace view".
<OscarL_32>
It does handles changing worksspaces on mouseshweel, thou, but that's not what I care about.

btw, for what it's worth, I think that https://github.com/haikuports/haikuports/pull/8488 could be merged. It is equally broken as the outdated version, but at least contains newer code, and builds on x86.

huh. seems Haiku doesn't actually implement RTS CTS internally? the code is just a stub in the serial driver.

Real Time Strategy Change The Subject ?
<Skipp_OSX>
I'm guessing you mean Request To Send/Clear to Send
<braewoods>
Yes.
<braewoods>
i'm not sure it actually matters but i'm working on serial protocol stuff. i'll find out if RTSCTS actually matters or not but all the existing ones set it for this case.
<waddlesplash>
note there's two serial drivers
<waddlesplash>
