win8linux[m]: you can search in home/config/settings/WebPositive to delete web storage if the site has any. This is stored as one directory per domain. I don't think there's anything else? Favicons and browsing history maybe?
<trungnt2910[m]>
x512[m]: Hmm I'll have to edit the build script then.
<x512[m]>
Seems distro-dependent.
<trungnt2910[m]>
> <@trungnt2910:matrix.org> Sadly this commit introduces a regression in `launch_daemon` and several other daemons:
<trungnt2910[m]>
I'll investigate tomorrow. This commit introduces the correct behavior for `read_port` (return the numbers of bytes read instead of B_OK) and is required for `strace` to work.
<trungnt2910[m]>
<x512[m]> "Screenshot_20230412_212352.png" <- For some reasons the daemons do not always start correctly. Sometimes you'll have to manually kill `launch_daemon` and restart it again.

<zdykstra>
Another glorious day in the land of Haiku :)
<nosycat>
Isn't that every day?
<zdykstra>
pretty much yeah

I am trying to fix all the Deskbar bugs
<Skipp_OSX>
or at least the tickets in my queue
<Skipp_OSX>
Anybody else for Utilities menu :) ?

<zdykstra>
so here's one - if you hit the menu button and then use the arrow keys to get to a minimized window and hit enter, it doesn't un-minimize it
<zdykstra>
it otherwise works for visible windows on the same (or different) desktops
tqh has joined #haiku
<zdykstra>
or does it? what the hell, why wasn't that working before.
jmairboeck has joined #haiku
<Skipp_OSX>
probably because it was hidden instead of minimized
<Skipp_OSX>
I don't have a menu button :/
CompanionCube has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<Skipp_OSX>
how do I get to an apps window menu with keyboard?
<bitigchi[m]>
<Skipp_OSX> "or at least the tickets in my..." <- Yes please.
<Skipp_OSX>
hey bitigchi[m] I fixed 2 of yours!
<Skipp_OSX>
menu button opens the Deskbar menu but I can't get it to open the app menus, what's the secret?
<bitigchi[m]>
I tried to reply to the Utilities menu one but Element is horrible at synchronising messages 😅
<Skipp_OSX>
I see, Team menu in mini-mode is the secret. Enter seems to work here
<bitigchi[m]>
Skipp_OSX: I saw them, much appreciated
<Skipp_OSX>
yeah I'm on team Utilities menu, and I am against team App Categories menu
<zdykstra>
I'm on team Utilities - I made my own locally

<bitigchi[m]>
I will offer a sacrifice to the underworld god once someone fixes the English folder names
<Skipp_OSX>
personally I think we should create a Utilities menu, stick the smaller apps in there, and then put the rest of the apps at the bottom of the menu, no submenu
<Skipp_OSX>
Actually it's an easy fix and I have a patch that already does that but I haven't submitted it yet.
<bitigchi[m]>
Yep, the list should be more appealing to the average folk
<bitigchi[m]>
Skipp_OSX: Folder names?
<Skipp_OSX>
Well the problem I have with categories is that I don't know what category to find an app in
<Skipp_OSX>
is it in Accessories or Utilities or Office?
<zdykstra>
that's where hot-keyed QuickLaunch comes in
<zdykstra>
I just start typing and it shows up
<bitigchi[m]>
Let’s ditch the menu folders altogether and use the folder itself, like macOS
<Skipp_OSX>
Quick tell me which submenu Terminal is in please without looking
<zdykstra>
yeah; categories are really pretty personal
<bitigchi[m]>
Utility
<Skipp_OSX>
bzzzzzzt
<bitigchi[m]>
Dev?
<bitigchi[m]>
No way
<Skipp_OSX>
bzzzzt
<bitigchi[m]>
Accessories then
<Skipp_OSX>
ding ding ding
CPYou has joined #haiku
<Skipp_OSX>
but see that makes no sense to me either so I hunt and peck 'till I find it just like you just did.
<bitigchi[m]>
Hmm Windows also had the DOS prompt there if I remember correctly
<bitigchi[m]>
Copied from there apparently
<Skipp_OSX>
yes, the whole thing is a copy of a terrible UI from Winders
<bitigchi[m]>
I’m obviously biased but macOS does is very simple and neat
<Skipp_OSX>
The Start Menu on Windows 98 was equally bad
<bitigchi[m]>
Yeah, that’s the same problem with the Haiku menu folders
<Skipp_OSX>
yep
<Skipp_OSX>
we should get rid of them all and use quick look insteead
<bitigchi[m]>
Yes
<Skipp_OSX>
errr quicksilver
<Skipp_OSX>
err whatever you call it, cmd+space search
<bitigchi[m]>
QuickLaunch
<bitigchi[m]>
Yep
<Skipp_OSX>
there you go
<Skipp_OSX>
hierarchy is bad
<Skipp_OSX>
well, I mean, for menus anyway
<Skipp_OSX>
maybe for corporate org structure it's good, but for menu UI, it is bad
<bitigchi[m]>
QuickSilver was neat, but abandoned
<bitigchi[m]>
Yes indeed
<Skipp_OSX>
it was coopted
<Skipp_OSX>
which is a nice way of saying stolen
<bitigchi[m]>
Does anyone have any insight on how to fix the size and position of read only folders
<Skipp_OSX>
sorry classic Mac OS Apple Menu was bad too which is why they got rid of it in 10.0 long before they had QuickLaunch
<Skipp_OSX>
yes, you store the attributes somewhere else
<bitigchi[m]>
I always use the application folder instead of the Apple menu on my OS 9 VM :)
<bitigchi[m]>
Also in macOS
<bitigchi[m]>
It is neat once you place it on a nice corner and always accessible with the nice display attributes
<bitigchi[m]>
Shame that macOS ditched WindowShade
<bitigchi[m]>
Makes it harder, but the new Stage Manager is neat
<Skipp_OSX>
so yeah the way to fix size and position of folders on read-only volume is to store the attributes somewhere else. A fancy overlay file system would be nice, but a file in ~/config could also be made to work.
<bitigchi[m]>
Allows you to focus on things
<Skipp_OSX>
WindowShade was dumb
<Skipp_OSX>
8.5-9 got really hacky there
<Skipp_OSX>
speaking of which, I also fixed S&T in MacDecorator :)
nosycat has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<bitigchi[m]>
Skipp_OSX: 7 didn’t have it IIRC
<Skipp_OSX>
correct, not until at least System 8 but I think actually it was 8.5 can't remember
<Skipp_OSX>
7.5.5 def did not have window shade
<Skipp_OSX>
7.6.1 I don't think so... maybe it did but I don't think so.
<Skipp_OSX>
You could install an extension on 7.6.1 to add it if you really wanted to.
<bitigchi[m]>
But it was the times where it wasn’t meant to have many multiple apps open :))
<bitigchi[m]>
Skipp_OSX: It’s already on Gerrit, right?
<bitigchi[m]>
Yeah even MultiFinder was an extension
<Skipp_OSX>
nope, I have maybe 50 patches that have never seen the light of Gerrit.
<bitigchi[m]>
Actually everything was an extension
<Skipp_OSX>
MacDecorator is currently held up because when you move the window the lines in the title bar flash at you
<bitigchi[m]>
Skipp_OSX: Bless us with those!
<Skipp_OSX>
I'm pretty sure they always did flash at you, but still I can't release it without fixing that first.
<bitigchi[m]>
Speaking of patches I’m still waiting for X512’s menu navigation patch
<Skipp_OSX>
I changed from StrokeLine calls to AddLine (to array) calls so it draws in one pass but that didn't fix the issue.
Begasus_32 has quit [Quit: Vision[]: Gone to the dogs!]
<zdykstra>
bitigchi[m]: which patch is that?
<Skipp_OSX>
you know he broke my live updating Tracker menus and then abandoned the whole thing.
<Skipp_OSX>
I wish I had made a video of when it worked because it was amazing
<bitigchi[m]>
zdykstra: Lemme find it
<Skipp_OSX>
BMenu is filled with gremlins, I can't really fault him for abandoning it.
Begas_VM has quit [Quit: Vision[]: i've been blurred!]
