Good morftervening all. Quick question about the initial Vision dialog. How on earth can it be used purely with a keyboard, and not demand a mouse?

g'morning peeps

<Begasus[m]>
Hi there Viking667
<Viking668>
Begasus: with the initial Vision dialogue, how do I navigate past the "Choose Network" dropdown with only the keyboard?
<Viking668>
Ouch. "Revert" undoes every colour selection I made, not just the one I wanted to undo.

not sure if it's possible to navigate with the keyboard in Vision Viking667
<Viking668>
I've also noticed there's no way to change the default path for DCC downloads/uploads.
<Begasus[m]>
never got that to work here either :)
<Begasus[m]>
I guess you could check HaikuArchives repo if there is a issue for it?
<Viking668>
Nope, didn't see a relevant issue there. And I don't envy the job of looking through the repo source code.
<Begasus[m]>
I don't think there has been much activity there anyway Viking667 (at least didn't see any real updates)

From what I've seen, the whole app uses a message passing system, though I'm not sure if M_DEFAULT_PATH_CHANGED ever gets used after its definition.

<Viking668>
And yes, commits seem sporadic at best.
<Viking668>
Interestingly, there's no M_DEFAULT_PATH even defined, unless it's buried away in the includes somewhere.
<Viking668>
nope, not in there either. Huh.
<Viking668>

hm. So WebPositive has a habit of pegging a CPU core (or two) and not properly quitting. Darn.
<Begasus[m]>
Viking667: it does that (mainly on github) :/

you can nuke it with PC in the Deskbar's systray(*)

Why does the js send WP batty?
<Begasus[m]>
that's one for PulkoMandy or nephele or zardshard or ... :)

I'm guessing they're some of the developers?

main ones the do the work on WebPositive and webkit yes

And there's no settings in the WebPositive interface to disable the javascript engine. Is there an equivalent to chrome://settings or the firefox equivalent?

Depends on the site if it will work, but fixproxy from fixbrowser can be used in WebPositive to de-JavaScript pages.

that python crash thing... out of my league. Seems related to changes in either wide-char support, and/or string to number conversion funtions in libroot. but that's as far as I go :-)

why would I know anything Begasus[m] :o
<Begasus[m]>
you're the real "one" nephele ;)
<nephele>
I hope that's not a babylon 5 joke
<Begasus[m]>
no clue about babylon, only know some of the Haiku devs :D
<Begasus[m]>
k, apache still crashing on conftest when running configure, don't think buildmasters can handle that :/
<nephele>
I'm not sure what crash you are talking about, in any case
<OscarL>
one of the commits from hrev58795 sounds like the most likely (to me) to be related.
<nephele>
then test against hrev58794
<nephele>
if that fixes it, make a trac ticket
<nephele>
I'm on 58786 currently. If you want i can try to see if the crash occurs for me?

<nephele>
bah. I dislike c code. It always looks like it's trying to get in the minimize c code contest
<OscarL>
I was able tto test on hrev58783 and the crash is not there. looking at commits upto hrev58786... nothing looks related, so I guess we can skip testing that hrev for now, thanks for the offer, nephele.
<Begasus[m]>
bummer, buildmasters still having issues :(
<OscarL>
(not really on the mood for building haiku.hpkg ATM, bisecting will have to wait :-D)
<nephele>
OscarL. If it started crashing at a specific hrev then open a ticket indeed
<OscarL>
alright. thanks nephele.
<nephele>
you don't need to bisect it
<Begasus[m]>
still good on hrev58791 also
<nephele>
I assumed you did not have a previous version tested, but if you have and that is in the range then feel free. we already know it started with some revision there

welp, using $libDir/python3.10/lib-dynload/*.so on `defineDebugInfoPackage` still errors out with: "No such file"
<Begasus[m]>
slap it! :)
<Begasus[m]>
afk for a bit
<OscarL>
boost also "manually" lists 30+ .so files when using defineDebugInfoPackage, so it seems *.so is not supported after all (I at least can't find any usage of that)
<OscarL>
prepareInstalledDevelLib does accepts globs though.

# Replace "/packages/apache-*/.settings" by "/boot/system/settings"

just caught my eye :) (in apache)
<OscarL>
also, notice that boost also has to list all the .so for defineDebugInfoPackage.
<Begasus[m]>
was about to look when this apache thing caught my eye :)
<OscarL>
yeah, that issue of setting files having package-version dependent paths ain't new, and some packages (like apache it seems), already try to address it.
