<Mr0btain> hey steev did you say progress was being made with audio on the Thinkpad? I've been out of the scene for a while fighting with kotlin.
<Mr0btain> ohh, and I saw someone said something about battery drain. I have a theory. the ones with 5G at least mine anyway, the modem seems to be the culprit.
<Mr0btain> not sure if modem manager keeps trying to mess with it or what. It wasn't a ton of drain but noticable. one minute it's there next it's not. then it's back. tinkered with it a bit and got that to stop. i think I switched to newest branch of modemmanager iirc. I couldn't get past fcc lock
<steev> Mr0btain: yes, progress is being made
<steev> there is constantly progress being made, really, you gotta watch the mailing lists to see it, moreso, since people want to see the support upstream
<steev> ah, there are a number of reasons why linux drains faster
<steev> suspend doesn't turn off as much as it could
<bamse> ndec: shows how much i know about instagram...
<Mr0btain> ohh man I haven't checked the mailing lists in weeks lol. and yes there definitely is, I forgot to mention on kernels that didn't have modem support seemed to last allot longer.
<Mr0btain> But, it could have been other patches between them.
<Mr0btain> Instagram seems like it's full of people trying to convince you their life is like a Disney movie
<Mr0btain> I live in the sticks though, So instas all mudding and trailer park love stories
<steev> my thinkpad doesn't have wwan module, i still get about 10 hours (actually i get a bit longer because i have some patches not yet on the list that i snagged)

<akaWolf0> selmer443[m]: how do you know battery was 0 level?
<akaWolf0> steev: when you left it powered on for the night, was it windows or linux?

<ardb> steev: so the bookwom installer fails horribly without any output whatsoever, even with earlycon=efifb
<ardb> so in the end, instead of reinstalling my b0rked debian install, i just reinstalled all packages and everything seems fine again
<ardb> but on this system, i always have fs errors at boot, even if i rebooted cleanly - the safest way to do a reboot is to use magic sysrq to sync/umount/reboot

<Mr0btain> 10 hours is amazing haha. I would be lucky to get 5 with the wwan on Linux. without the wwan enabled, prolly close to 7. I have to take another look at the board, but I believe the layout of the 5g ones is quite different. not 100% but more 80% sure iirc I don't have a m.2 slot. but i got the best one Verizon had to offer. 16gb of ram and such. but
<Mr0btain> I'm almost positive in my teardown there's no extra m.2 and I was highly disappointed. I thought the wifi ones came with 2 slots. I could be wrong idk about the non wwan ones

<steev> qzed: btw, if you want to include it, if you need a v3, https://github.com/steev/linux/commit/17de461c11fc1659d66d11798cecee7b264c9f69
<steev> actually, i suppose the compatible could just be the generic one?
<clover[m]> just updated lenovo thermal and power/battery drivers

<qzed> steev: people complained about "but what if the firmware changes" last time so it's probably better if we use a specific soc one...
<qzed> Although I doubt the firmware changes much
<qzed> And I'll try to remember that for v3
<qzed> I think there needs to be one because a header got moved in another patch set if I'm not mistaken

<steev> clover[m]: oh, good to know
<akaWolf0> someone tried to fully discharge x13s?
<akaWolf0> in Windows normally it's not possible since it has limit 2% after reach which it will be hibernate or shutdown
<akaWolf0> but I guess it should be possible in UEFI shell or in Linux
