<landwork> tobhe: Did you get a chance to check the forum issue I mentioned -> "You have reached the reply limit for this topic, New users are temporarily limited to 3 replies in the same topic"? I've been classed as a new user for multiple months now.
<landwork> I'm going to try your 20250215.iso today on a fresh ssd (Yoga7x) - I didn't have any luck installing with the last few isos that were released, so fingers crossed :)

<JensGlathe[m]> Getting a system intalled on the local ssd is a bit of a PITA, took me 3 days for the Thinkbook.

<anonymix007[m]> So I can't get any logs from the Hexagon DSP and this is printed each time I run the "calculator" example:... <spawacz> What does it mean when the orange light at the charging port in x13s is blinking randomly when the power cable is attached?
<JensGlathe[m]> out with it
<spawacz> I see it does not start charing...
<JensGlathe[m]> EC firmware is going bonkers
<JensGlathe[m]> Wrong charger?
<spawacz> Yeah, the xfce notification as well
<spawacz> 45W, 5-20V, 2.25 A
<JensGlathe[m]> hmm reboot is not an option?
chrisl has joined #aarch64-laptops
<spawacz> Rebooted, it worked

<marclaporte[m]> Hi! I am noob here. Just to share that I am an enthusiast of the project.
<marclaporte[m]> I work with many developers who live in places with frequent power outages, so long battery life is the most important thing for them. And using Open Source software is the most important thing for me.
<Caterpillar> how is the X13s support going?
<JensGlathe[m]> ecept for sound (at least for me(, great
<marclaporte[m]> So I see 3 models here: https://aarch64-laptops.github.io/ and a potential 4th on here: https://github.com/aarch64-laptops/aarch64-laptops.github.io/pull/1
<JensGlathe[m]> This year, we're talking about laptops with the Snapdragon X Elite, mostly (IMO). It's ofcourse new-ish, but pretty well supported.
<marclaporte[m]> Jens Glathe: what kind of battery life are you getting?
<JensGlathe[m]> actually never cared. More than 8 hours for sure. Changes when you do 100% CPU load, ofcourse. Battery life wasn't really a concern for now. I have one laptop with 65Wh battery (Omnibook X14s) and one with 84Wh (Lenovo Thinkbook 16). Both suspend well, and you usually don't loose more than 30% over the night. There is work underway to enable deep sleep, so only getting better.
<Caterpillar> what about virtualization?
<JensGlathe[m]> Things are difficult bc Qualcomm. But actually, you can get /dev/kvm with slbounce on x1e. I have one box running on sc8280xp, but its not x1e, and not a laptop. Very stable, though.

<marclaporte[m]> I just proposed an PR: https://github.com/aarch64-laptops/build/pull/132
<marclaporte[m]> I would like to purchase a second-hand laptop on Ebay and experiment. Just need to work for experiment. Doesn't need to be powerful. I can get a good one later.
<marclaporte[m]> * I would like to purchase a second-hand laptop on Ebay and experiment. Just needs to work for basic experiment. Doesn't need to be powerful. I can get a good one later. And recommendations for inexpensive model to start with?

<marclaporte[m]> I added an entry on OpenHub: https://openhub.net/p/aarch-laptops
<JensGlathe[m]> I paid 800 for my HP X14 on ebay
<JensGlathe[m]> same for the Thinkbook 16, but new
<robclark> lenovo x13s (prev gen) and t14s (current gen) seem to be well supported (and lenovo has pushed fw to linux-firmware)... I have lenovo yoga 7x which works well (and x13s).. not sure what situation is like for 2nd hand but if you spot a deal on t14s that would be a good option. And if you don't need the cpu horsepower x13s is still a nice laptop
<steev> the x13s is my daily driver, and i do linux distro development
<steev> the horse power is plenty fine :)
<clover[m]> Agreed. Sometimes bad, heavy websites are slow to load on x13s though
<steev> i only experience that with gitlab :(
<robclark> x13s plenty fine.. but not faster than current intel and amd laptops
chrisl has joined #aarch64-laptops
<steev> this is true
<steev> except for i work on arm stuff, and having to shuffle that through qemu on intel/amd is painful
<robclark> x1e is defn the fastest thing I own (ignoring corp burly threadripper workstation which I do not own)
<steev> i'm hoping post release i can throw the 2tb nvme into the t14s and get cracking on linux
<robclark> 7x makes kernel rebase && recompile much less painful.. that is for sure
<steev> well my " key (and up arrow) are sometimes broken on the x13s, no idea what that is about, so that is the biggest thing i'm looking forward to having working again with the t14s
<steev> i thought about getting a new keyboard for the x13s, but looking at replacing it... you have to take the entire thing apart to do it
chrisl has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<dgilmore> my x13s has 16GiB ram and firefox sometimes gets killed. but it works pretty well. the t14s is much rougher.
<dgilmore> I do have a 2TiB NVMe drive in my t14s and only have linux on it
<steev> that was my plan
<dgilmore> I did try to boot windows via usb yesterday and it was unhappy. if I need windows I have to switch the drive
