<HdkR>
External display is supposed to work on X1E now with Yoga 7x right?
<JensGlathe[m]>
Yes it should. Working here on HP X14 and Snapdragon DevKit
<HdkR>
Alright, gonna test that tonight after dinner
<JensGlathe[m]>
retimer support needs to be in the dt
<HdkR>
Oh
<HdkR>
So jhovold/wip/x1e80100-6.13 not good enough :D
<JensGlathe[m]>
apparently not, it is missing in x1e80100-lenovo-yoga-slim7x.dts
<HdkR>
Womp womp
<HdkR>
I'm using VNC currently and its terrible
<JensGlathe[m]>
I wouldn't say "it is easytoadd", but certainly easier than continuing with VNC
<HdkR>
As someone that dislikes tinkering in the kernel, I'll yell at clouds for now
<JensGlathe[m]>
if that helps

since you officially qualified as guinea pig... doing amerge now
<JensGlathe[m]>
3 type-c connectors? no type-a?
<HdkR>
Yea
<HdkR>
All three Thunderbolt capable I believe
<JensGlathe[m]>
ok
<JensGlathe[m]>
then lets hope it is similar to crd
<JensGlathe[m]>
card reader or fingerprint reader?

JensGlathe[m]: uuuhhhhh, I haven't opened it in a while, I don't remember
<HdkR>
JensGlathe[m]: Looks like neither
<JensGlathe[m]>
Ok
<JensGlathe[m]>
No Bluetooth?
<HdkR>
I would presume it has Bluetooth but I don't use it
<JensGlathe[m]>
Definition is missing
<HdkR>
WCN785x Has Wifi and BT, so I guess it's just missing
<HdkR>
I don't use the wireless so I've never looked at it :D
<anthony25>
I asked hogliux (the author) but they needed to look how to upstream, I don't know if I could do it for them but mark them as the author of the patch
<JensGlathe[m]>
That's similar to what I inserted, I used the CRDs wcn7850-pmu definition, therefore slight differences in the pcie4_port0 and uart14 nodes
<smoorgborg[m]>
I've just tested my Rokid Max AR glasses on T14s using the 6.13.3 kernel Jens kindly provided a week ago. Display works fine! Microphone shows up under audio, but strangely the output does not show up in Gnome - still only the "Dummy" output. Probably a minor thing.

<tobhe_>
anthony25: I was planning to go trought our patches after rebasing onto 6.13 and pinging people for stuff that isn't on the list or just sending them out myself. maybe I should add a small how to on discourse
<anthony25>
tobhe_: ha that's really cool! I selfishly only looked at the patches for the slim 7x, it doesn't seem that there's many that has not been sent already
<anthony25>
just the bluetooth support, and maybe also the retimer
<tobhe_>
I try to encourage people to send their diffs out and it seems to haved worked pretty well
<tobhe_>
I think most people are happy to contribute
<anthony25>
definitely, and it's really great
<anthony25>
thanks again!
<anthony25>
6.14 looks pretty good for x1e, there was a lot of progress since the release of the concept iso of ubuntu in october (having the grub config picking automatically the good dtb and having the firmware picker helped a lot in my case)
<albsen[m]>
<agl> "When it would cost ca. 1700..." <- check ebay, I got one from there for 1400usd from a person that was initially excited about xelite due to marketing and then decided that it's not that nice.
<albsen[m]>
Jens Glathe: after making 6.13 from the deb's that you provided work. I had a bunch of crashes bcs I was still using 64gb from that on 6.13 is not able to boot it anymore at all. it's really odd. did a few deb remove and reinstalls but not matter what it always says Application failed, r= 1 error: start_image() returned 0x80000...0001. if I then press any key grub screen reappears but is frozen and I have to hard rest the laptop. 6.12
<albsen[m]>
that came with the iso doesn't do that.
<JensGlathe[m]>
Not good. The curse ofthe 64GB machines as it seems
<albsen[m]>
no clue, I mean, I'm now blocking the 32gb and have only had one single crash since
<albsen[m]>
likely unrelated, and I'm using it as my main machine now
<albsen[m]>
working on it all day
<albsen[m]>
but whats really odd is that message, any idea what this is? something is wrong with the initramfs i think. but shouldnt that be resolved if I remove the kernel completely, reboot cleanly and then later reinstall it fresh?
<albsen[m]>
unfortunately, no luck, however, after "recreating" the initramfs I dont get the error anymore it simply fails and throws me back to grub which hangs and requires a hard reboot. this is for both 6.13-6 and 6.13-8 deb's
<JensGlathe[m]>
do you have the ubuntu concept x1e ppa in your apt?
<albsen[m]>
idk, I installed from the iso and didnt remove any ppas let me check
<robclark>
JensGlathe[m]: btw your dts patch for 7x external display seems to break edp / internal display? I guess your change to edp bl node wasn't intentional (but reverting that part didn't seem to fix it for me.. unless I screwed something up)
<JensGlathe[m]>
Will take a look when I‘m home
<robclark>
hmm, well also I seem to have lost rtc, so it could be screwed up date => not rebuilding something
<JensGlathe[m]>
No, I removed rtc since it should be in the x1e80100_pmics.dtsi
chrisl has joined #aarch64-laptops
<JensGlathe[m]>
Shouldn’t be in the device dts anymore IMO
<robclark>
ok, yeah, I was gettuing bit by timestamp
<robclark>
once I reverted the part that changed edp bl node, I have both internal + external display working
<robclark>
JensGlathe[m]: I also deleted the input-disable and output-enable (which weren't there previously.. but idk if that matters, I guess the power-source is the important part)
<robclark>
I kinda figured any change to edp bl is unrelated to external display ;-)
<JensGlathe[m]>
yeah it looked incomplete to me, and odd, therefore I changed it, too
