maz: I think I better understand how TLB invalidation works now, and so yes my idea of trapping ISB was a bad idea that couldn't work
<icecream95>
I have at least found an excuse to justify using local Stage 2 tables: for device memory that I trap access to, I can temporarily allow access and then single-step, and other cores won't miss the trap
<icecream95>
Doing that rather than fully emulating the access means I don't have to trap Stage 1 TLBIs, though I could probably ignore them since operating systems don't generally swap out in-use device pages
<icecream95>
Well, not unless there's a refcount bug!

<maz>
icecream95: swapping out devices is hard, unless you have a soldering iron! :) but I know of hypervisors that will happily kill a S1 mapping targeting devices to reclaim the S1 PT memory.

steev: What does it cost?
<steev>
i had some discounts available to me so the price was 1337
<steev>
pretty much had to buy it at that point
<agl>
steev: Oh so cheap ... it's the half than that I get it in Germany. The configuration with 64 GB and SIM-Card I pay here ca. 2700.- Euro.
<steev>
wwan is not included in mine (it was like 400 dollars more)
<agl>
I pay here 2729.01 Euro. I have looked at this moment.
<agl>
It's to expensiv for me.
<steev>
i udnerstand
<agl>
When it would cost ca. 1700.- Euro I would buy.
<JensGlathe[m]>
T14s is out of range
<steev>
if it weren't for my discounts, it would also be out of my range

<tobhe>
You should order a few more laptops if that's how it works :)
<steev>
