heh... I just found an amazing victim of the elevator VFD of doom and noise

there's this problem with the motor VFD in the elevator in my apartment complex, where it introduces some hideous high-pitch noise in the mains. I've seen it in other apartments too, I have no idea if it's a common problem or what.

nah, totally fixable with the right kind of filter, you'd just have to hook a scope up to the mains to see what's actually coming across and whether it's on just the hot or also the neutral
