<rowang077[m]>
Did someone already try to run GHC on asahi linux?
<kode54>
that reminds me
<kode54>
saw someone on fedi joking that they intend to use nixos so they can become an "annoying Haskell developer" "without having to learn any Haskell"
<kode54>
since I don't know anything about Haskell, and I know very little about nixos, I don't get it
<tpw_rules>
oh that's me!
<tpw_rules>
i get to feel superior to my smug functional programming knowing friends but still not actually have to bother with it
<rowang077[m]>
Well I guess it's the whole "A monad is just a monoid in the category of endofunctors, what's the problem?". Nix kinda like the functional programming equivalent of a system specification DSL.
<rowang077[m]>
Says me who is currently running nixos and designing hardware using haskell as my day job 😅
<tpw_rules>
it's also something that's theoretically superior but just barely worth the effort
<rowang077[m]>
Nixos I can kinda agree. But nix itself is definitely worth the effort. Anyway this is getting off topic. I just wanted to know whether GHC runs :p
<tpw_rules>
anyway my experiment completed and it turns out that the idevicerestore/apple configurator erase leaves the internal ssd zeroed. idk if it actually changes the encryption key but that's probably not really possible to find out without a logic analyzer
<tpw_rules>
if at all
<rowang077[m]>
I can't test myself since I don't (yet) have an M1
<tpw_rules>
so you are in fact completely hosed if you have to erase
<tpw_rules>
arch doesn't ship ghc for aarch64. let me install nix. one moment
<tpw_rules>
can you suggest a nixpkgs attribute to try
<rowang077[m]>
just `ghc` should work if it is packaged for aarch64 in nix

Hello, does any kind of roadmap for the project exists?
<j`ey>
not really, it's mostly freeform

it is really awesome how good it actually works already, if I could use my external display on macbook air I would instantly leave osx :D
