<jonaburg[m]>
just looking at m1 macbook pro 14 compatibility for feature support, and i see that the 3.5 jack, as well as mic array are unsupported. does that mean that there is no way that these can be used with asahi later on?
<jonaburg[m]>
why are the unsupported actually? is it super blackboxed?
<j`ey>
unsupported because the work hasnt been done yet
<tpw_rules>
no they're just not ready yet
<mofux[m]>
I'm using the Asahi reference distro on a Macbook Air. Is there any way yet to change the resolution of the framebuffer (mostly for performance reasons)?

<mofux[m]> "I'm using the Asahi reference..." <- I don’t think. What performance issue have you encountered? Mine is very good! (Remember the missing GPU acceleration so animation can’t be smooth)

cmalvi: it’s getting kinda hot at times with Gnome and i thought a lower resolution might help to reduce the burden of software rendering
<cmalvi[m]>
mofux[m]: Really strange. Mine is fanless and very cold

my 14 inch m1 macbook pro 21 has the same issue generally, gets kinda hot under asahi currently, i also assumed it was relating to the software rendering
<ktz_[m]>
just a guess but I'd say its something to do with power management etc, its the battery getting hot in the lower half, I don't think its cause of over processing. I noticed mine being hot even after idling for some hours

ktz_[m]: I’m sorry I can’t help you I think…in my case (m1 air) seems all ok. Do you have my same soc model or m1 pro or other?
<ktz_[m]>
I got an air as well, I think it isn't unique to the air tho, it could be minor differences from other itterations of the hardware/firmware? who knows.. I'm conducting a more practical test to see if my previous assumption could indeed be the case
<cmalvi[m]>
ktz_[m]: If you can keep it documented, maybe it could be useful in future (frequency scaling problem or other related)
