<bluetail[m]> marcan: I am quite certain it’s dithering. CFR for non available colors. OS asks for 8 bit but monitor can only do 6bit +CFR
<bluetail[m]> pixel walk as result
<bluetail[m]> any idea how to enforce limited rgb range or 6 bit ?

<asahi-test[m]> Just want to say that this is a _HUGE_ project. We are really standing on the shoulders of giants that allow us to see further and use great tools everyday. Atm i am unemployed, but as soon as i get my first paycheck i will payback some of "this magic" that we are allowed by great effort of this great community. This is "window" full of very bright people. So thank you all for this great endeavor.
<asahi-test[m]> * This is a "window" full
<mps> did anyone found how to disable boot on m1 by keypress or lid open
<bluetail[m]> <asahi-test[m]> "Just want to say that this is a..." <- Heck If I took money for my 8 years of RE in various projects I would be a completely different person
<bluetail[m]> once you start taking money things may get more like ‘I paid u and I am in the position to blame you for not getting done already’ along with legal headaches
<bluetail[m]> It may be easier to pay for a coffee than specifically for the project
<bluetail[m]> I think that you might find a solution for all that …
<mps> bluetail[m]: heh, that is why I don't like any money for my free work
<j`ey> bluetail[m]: markan is asking for sponsors on patreon and github

<bluetail[m]> <j`ey> "bluetail: markan is asking for..." <- Aren’t those either companies or people who don’t know what else todo with their cash? Why would I buy a M1 just to install Linux on it? I get that legacy thing. But for me and maybe others it’s just a hack
<bluetail[m]> It’s hard to market that
<j`ey> dunno, just replying to " It may be easier to pay for a coffee than specifically for the project"
<j`ey> when there is a specific place to pay for at least markan's work
<j`ey> there's also https://github.com/sponsors/povik if you want to support povik on the audio side of thins
<bluetail[m]> I would pay a coffee but not half of my net gains each month
<j`ey> I dont think anyone is suggesting to pay half of your salary
<j`ey> and no, I'm pretty sure it's all individuals contributing, not companies.
the_lanetly_052__ has joined #asahi
<j`ey> the whole point of the project is to get linux on the m1, so not sure why youre questioning that lol

<bluetail[m]> What do I need to donate to see the boring work and every step explained ?
<bluetail[m]> so that I feel I can help too
<sven> uh… donate if you feel like it and just don’t otherwise?
<j`ey> bluetail[m]: donate as little as you want
<j`ey> donating doesn't get you anything 'extra', it's all in the open
<bluetail[m]> sad. I thought I could become an apprentice:D
<mps> firefox317: yes, I read this about fedora when started to adding simpledrm to alpine kernels
<bluetail[m]> perhaps first learn electric… stuff with the arduino
<mps> firefox317: and 'applied' this logic with asahi kernel
<mps> firefox317: because xorg didn't even started on m1 with fbdev on m1

<w12101111> I have ported the 16k page patch to electron 17 and 18
<w12101111> electron 18 run without any issue (sway + wayland)
<w12101111> electron 17 need to run with --disable-gpu, or the window won't appear
<w12101111> It take about 1h 40m to compile electron on m1 max (files on tmpfs, clang 14, lld with lto)

<JuanjoGarca[m]> Hello everyone :)
<JuanjoGarca[m]> Hello everyone! Anyone having problems with HDMI (M1 mac mini)? Everything works fine but if I leave the computer on and turn off the screen, when I'm back the screen has lost signal (suspend is disabled and xset off -dpms. Any suggestions?
<tpw_rules> yes, that's expected
<JuanjoGarca[m]> ohhh really? Is there anything I can do? I thought it was a misconfiguration from my side
<JuanjoGarca[m]> Is a kind of power management issue?
<tpw_rules> linux doesn't know how to control the m1's display coprocessor yet, so the only time the monitor can sync is when the machine first boots and m1n1 tries to connect it
<tpw_rules> if it disconnects later, there's nothing that will reconnect it
<JuanjoGarca[m]> ohhh it has all the sense!
<JuanjoGarca[m]> so there is no way to reconnect! (what I'm doing is ssh and restarting XD)
<tpw_rules> no. you have to restart the computer. just be thankful you have a monitor that works at all :)
<tpw_rules> i have some that just completely don't work
<JuanjoGarca[m]> hehehe got it :) Thanks a lot for your reply :)
<JuanjoGarca[m]> I have it in my living room, connected to the TV
<JuanjoGarca[m]> I'm chatting with you from it...
<JuanjoGarca[m]> In any case, I would like to take the opportunity to appreciate all the hard work you're doing... it's amazing the performance and what you guys have achieved in such a short time having to do everything on your own and without Apple support...
<JuanjoGarca[m]> so... BIG THANKS to all you!
