marcan: https://sethmlarson.dev/urllib3-in-2022 seems to support zstandard compression. Can we use that instead of zip for the installer or does it not support streaming? I would prefer zstandard over zip because it compresses better and can use multiple cpus for compression.

kettenis: Nope, it does not. But building the debian installer most of the time I wait for zip to finish. For m a r c a n it is worse because his image is 10 times bigger.

<sven>
also, ipsws use regular zip compression and we kinda have to use them
___nick___ has quit []
<sven>
oh, you’re talking about the image and not the ipsw extraction
<Glanzmann>
sven: Yes, but it might be the case that this streaming behaviour is only possible with 'zip' and not with tar besides urllib3 now having zstd support.
___nick___ has joined #asahi
<sven>
I don’t know much about the installer but which image that we generate is a zip file?
<sven>
i thought the streaming part and all that was just for the ipsws
<kettenis>
sven: the stuff that gets downloaded by the installer and extracted onto the esp
<Glanzmann>
sven: The stuff that we extract to the esp partition and the file we dd to the partition we create.
<kettenis>
and I assume the image that is extracted on the newly created linux partition
<kettenis>
jeffmr: I need to revisit the audio stuff; there were some DT changes that changed the order in which the speakers were listed
<kettenis>
so the aplaudio(4) driver may need some tweaks to make sure the right channel comes out of the right speaker

alyssa / marcan: With the latest gpu / mesa changes xfreerdp seems to be no longer slow and I could not see any display errors. However only when started with the options: -gfx /rfx without this options it is still slow and has display artefacts. Before with the options it was fast but it had display artefacts. Now I can't see them anymore.

Agreed. But I still don't really understand why fetch -t isn't the default fetch behavior - and what the implications are. Anyway, this is getting quite off-topic. Thanks again.
