Hi. Trying to boot OpenBSD 7.2 (img and/or miniroot) from usb on an M1 MBP. I install via the Asahi EFI and uboot method and that part goes fine. However, when it starts to boot into openbsd
<jeffmr>
A lot of blue screen rolls by and it freezes at aplsmc0 at simplebus0
<jeffmr>
Does anyone know how I can get it to boot the install usb?
<jeffmr>
a lot of at simplebus0 and not configured shows up before that.

I'm plugging a usb-c flash drive into my host and I'm getting device errors. Is there a trick to use the drive or is this not yet supported?

hi again, what would be prereqs to contribute to the project? i have decent C, GPGPU knowledge, have written drivers/kernel modules, and previously reverse engineered some proprietary hardware/software to add virtualization support
<lumen>
but i've never done any "OS development". what would be a good next step if the goal is to contribute to Asahi?
<lumen>
pls let me know if this type of message is not appropriate for the channel :) thx!!
<mps>
lumen: maybe you should ask these qeustions on #asahi-dev channel
<mps>
but probably it is ok also here
<mps>
asahi is mostly about kernel development, userspace works fine as for other arm64 SoCs, just some software need fixes
<lumen>
mps: got it, will ask there from now on, thank you

jeffmr: which is your latest installed macos version? global firmware updates in macos 13 broke an earlier version of the linux smc driver. if I remember correctly kettenis_ said macos also exposed problems in some openbsd driver, not sure if it was smc. It's also possible that this is triggered by a devicetree update in the latest uefi installer
<jannau>
in both cases a current snapshot instead of openbsd 7.2 might work around the issue

jeffmr: yes, with newer system firmware (12.6.x, 13.x) OpenBSD 7.2 will hang
<kettenis>
so you'll need a -current snapshot

I tried the snapshot and I am able to install it mostly but it restarts automatically part way through the install.
<jeffmr>
Its as if if I wait too long it restarts.
<jeffmr>
I got to the point where it was about to relink the kernel and then it restarted.

<Tramtrist>
anyone using sway and struggling with disable while typing support (dtw) ?
<Tramtrist>
(dwt)*
<Tramtrist>
seems to be ignored in the sway config and libinput
<Cyrinux>
Tramtrist I got the same, for the moment i finish by simply disable tap, but its a little boring. There is a changelog for the next sway 1.8 about disable while trackpointing, is is related? https://github.com/swaywm/sway/releases/tag/1.8
<Tramtrist>
its released yes but not in arch.. thank you Cyrinux ! :)
