most times it is pretty un-noticable, unless i happen to run dmesg for something else and see it; but every so often, it does take out the wifi device

Here's an updated wip branch for the X13s:
<JensGlathe[m]>
jhovold: removing the ps8830 on i2c7 seems to work.. the type-c without ps8830 retimer works astype-c, too. Will test further later. Thanks for the help!

does anyone know is 8cx gen3 in thinkpad x13s can drive 4K external display at 60Hz?
<glu>
i'm getting only 30hz on pmOS edge, but I am wondering if this is device limit or firmware
chrisl has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<JensGlathe[m]>
more msm-drm limit. The dp support is limited to 2 lanes.
<sgerhold>
JensGlathe[m]: try DP on the type-c without retimer in both orientations. If there is no retimer, there should be a at least a gpio-sbu-mux like for the Type C ports in x1e80100-qcp

Which is wired up in the dtsi
<JensGlathe[m]>
Will try later
<JensGlathe[m]>
And will look into the qcp definition, thanks for the tip

<anthony25>
are the issues with ath11k related to the freeze issues triggered by ath12k?
<anthony25>
it happens quite frequently on wifi connection on x1e

<jhovold>
anthony25: do you see similar messages in the logs when that happens, or what are the symptoms?
<anthony25>
I'll paste the logs when I get back to my laptop, the symptoms are an entire freeze of the video output and inputs
<anthony25>
and a kernel panic is triggered, related to ath12k
<anthony25>
it can happen when I connect or disconnect to/from a wifi network
<anthony25>
I can ssh to the laptop when it happens
<anthony25>
(on a yoga slim 7x)
<robclark>
anthony25: any chance it looks like this:
<robclark>
I'm seeing that occasionally on my 7x (with -rc3, I've not had a chance to move to something newer yet)
<anthony25>
I don't think so, I saw explicitely more ath12k calls in the stack trace
<robclark>
hmm, ok.. this is only splat I'm seeing (but I get a pretty long stream of them)
<robclark>
.. until I force reboot
<anthony25>
on my setup it's really easy to reproduce
<anthony25>
once every 3-5 reboots

sorry, it's totally unrelated, it's because of gpu lockups
<anthony25>
I don't know why I mixed that with a wifi issue, it gets weirdly triggered at the same time my laptop boots and connects to wifi
<anthony25>
I got confused with an old kpanic due to ath12k

craftyguy, steev, JensGlathe[m]: looks like we may have a fix for the ath11k bug already this week:
<robclark>
hmm, ok.. I think v4 corrected the acd table bit
<robclark>
anyways, if you can semi-reliably reproduce hangs, try dropping the ACD series, and or commenting out the OPPs above 1.1ghz.. that would at least help confirm if the hangs are ACD related
<anthony25>
ok

fwiw, those who watch the linux-wireless mailing list, at least on torvalds, those 2 ath11k that just showed up a bit ago do not at all work
<zdykstra>
I haven't checked in a while; is 4k output on the x13s still limited to 30hz ?
<zdykstra>
hah, I should have read the back scroll!

sgerhold: I added the usb-sbu-mux for usb_1, and it is respnding. Will do some dp lane tests now
<JensGlathe[m]>
wow it actually tries to do 4k@60 with 2 lanes, display won't have it
<JensGlathe[m]>
Both type-c ports do dp-out now, without the ps8830 (which isn't there). The displayis recognized as 63", its actually 32", but yeah. 4k@30 on both connectors.
