sven / basso: though the mini does support two external displays, because it doesn't have an internal display. also though, one of them must be HDMI, so it's pointless to get two displays over one of the Thunderbolt ports

chadmed honest opinion: Never put a mac machine as a primary rig, only as a fallback. I made the mistake sometime ago to not have a reasonably modular desktop. A real desktop has the benefit of that you can change anything and replace parts on your own...

you can use two monitors over TB3 though (on M1 Pro/etc, and *possibly* with hacks and limitations on M1 but it's unclear), but not as MST, as separate tunneled DP streams
