jannau: there is bug in dcp brightness for j316. No big deal, but it thinks that initial brightness is 0, even that it's not. So, when you start to changing it in DE for the first time it's jumps to zero value
<Dcow>
but in dcp logs there "[ 2.826841] apple-dcp 38bc00000.dcp: Backlight updated to 140 nits" in the beggining
<Dcow>
I assume that's from dcp handler, so probably need to initialize value there
<Dcow>
after that it behavies alright, thank you very much!

I heard that OpenGL support can be given automatically via OpenGL ES. As in Mesa implements OpenGL for you in terms of OpenGLES?
<rowanG337>
What version "maps" to what version and where can I find doc about this? My google foo is failing me
<rowanG337>
Or did I completely imagine this :/?

hmmm? What does it have to do with Metal?
<rowanG337>
I thought you can run opengl (non ES) programs with the in progress even though the driver only implements OpenGL ES because there is some automatic translation going on.
<rowanG337>
For example xonotic requires OpenGL 2.1 according to its website. But it still works even though we only have an OpenGL ES driver

rowanG337: as far I understand that, this is gallium driver, which abstracts opengl/es so both are available

rowanG337: it's not an OpenGL ES driver, it's a Gallium driver
<marcan>
you're probably confused because Lina and Alyssa keep tweeting about OpenGL ES compliance tests because official OpenGL compliance tests for older versions don't exist at all
<marcan>
(instead there's piglit, Alyssa only just got to trying it out)
<marcan>
Gallium takes care of a lot of the common functionality and legacy GL features, but it's not "GL on top of GLES"
<marcan>
the underlying driver does not use either of those APIs

Expected: Desktop hast brightness of macOS Desktop
<cy8aer>
Actual with macOS13: Desktop is very bright

Ok, you really need to set the brightness, it is not the brightness actually shown on the macOS side. Works as designed and sorry.
