<Animortis>
I could use some help figuring out why my sound card isn't working
<Animortis>
Especially since everything else on this box is flawless
<AlwaysLivid>
Is it visible in the Sound settings?
<AlwaysLivid>
If it is detected and works properly in other operating systems, then it's very much likely on us, and we'll need more info (e.g. model, etc.) and a bug report.

Is it possible with the help of Haiku components to boot/install BeOS R5 from/to a USB drive?
SunWuKung has joined #haiku
<AlwaysLivid>
NicePics, you can use dd to flash any sort of .iso, but we do not support BeOS in particular in any capacity.

Yes, remember compiling Haiku sound drivers for R5 so thought it would be possible to do the same.
<AlwaysLivid>
Did you actually manage to do that? :D
<NicePics>
Some ac97 driver

had this idea to build ADB on Haiku. But for that you need to build Android. The readme says "At least 250GB of free disk space to check out the code and an extra 150 GB to build it"

google has a tool called repo for android to manage git repos because git submodules are not manageable for them
<AlwaysLivid>
repo's sort of good but a pain to work with

I'm happy that haiku is so manageable to build, and even our deps are mostly tame like webkit :)

is there a web page with the story of zeta os ?
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Yes, I know that countryboy, the BeShare bridge is using R1B2 which has network timeout problems - whenever a network connection dies, it doesn't time out, it just sits there. Hoping Beta3 fixes that.
<countryboy>
ok AGMS, np ...
<countryboy>
and thanks
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Works fine in BeOS, which does have timeouts working, but the BeOS network stack crashes when there's too much activity.
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Hmmm, should try a test on a nightly to see if network timeouts are working...
<countryboy>
i think sartore stole the beos source code ... and shut down zeta os ...

Well, Haiku Nightly has some network timeouts, but only restores the sending side of a TCP connection after the router is rebooted (NAT mapping lost), better than R1B2 which loses both sides.
AGMS has quit []
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Better yet, would be to recognise that the connection is dead, Then Vision / BeShare / some App can reconnect at a higher level (log in again).

Doesn't seem to be a timeout for TCP connections, at least for using Vision, 5 minutes unplugged from the network and it keeps on waiting.
