rennj Not the buildbot builds. I'd built a nightly from source and it panics pretty quickly with "did not find any boot partitions!". Was trying to figure out if this was likely to be my problem and I should troubleshoot, or maybe something broken in the branches at the moment.

Nightlies should boot normally, assuming you followed the instructions, but it may depend on what specific env you used (e.g which VM)

Well, guess I figured it out, more or less. My beta2 VM has the HDD set to the default, a SCSI device. Changed the nightly VM to IDE and it boots fine now.

I'm trying to recompile VMwareAddons package to troubleshoot a problem. It's actually only a single component of the package - vmware_mouse, which gets installed as an input_server filter

Cacafuego: haiku uses a package management system that installs the system in a RO state, for most stuff there is non-packaged equivalent folders that can be used for local overwrite isntalls, the other choice is to update the respective package and install that instead

I found an iOS XMPP client called Monal I'd like to try out, maybe that would be a nice recomendation assuming it works, I don't really see myself using telegram, whatsapp or anything like those anytime soon, but my main problem with contributing to the haiku website is more that it is on github, and thus reviewing becomes really infeasible for me :P

Is there a way to disable serial debug output on nightlies? Seems to be on regardless of whether I choose it or not in the startup menu, and it's stealing my only com port :)
