<Skyl3r> Can HaikuDepot be built from source on Haiku? I was looking at the documentation and it seems to just cover building on linux
<Skyl3r> https://depot.haiku-os.org/__docs/overview.html < this is what I was looking at, in case I'm looking in the wrong spot
<Skyl3r> ah disregard, I realize I'm looking at the server not the app. Apologies heh

<julicenri> Looking at that Fuchsia thread in the forum rn and it's a little bit astounding how off-topic it went, for somethiing in the off-topic category at that.
<julicenri> Started with talking about Fuchsia and is currently at international politics.
<julicenri> xD
<BrunoSpr> we are here to talk about Haiku
<orealis> not make haikus
<nephele[m]> juliencenri: somehow google is polarizing
<julicenri> That makes sense, but it's still somewhat ridiculous how far it's gone from Fuchsia on that thread.
<julicenri> Speaking of Fuchsia, heard there was some interest in porting its graphics driver API to Haiku?

<bbjimmy> how do I debug a running Web+?
<bbjimmy> ok, I killed web+ and then opened it by the bookmark and now the page displays. hmm
<bbjimmy> after re=loading the page several times with the same blank page.
countryboy has left #haiku [#haiku]
<bbjimmy> If I click on the link from haiku-os.org I get the blank page and have to close and re-open then use a bookmark to get the page to display.
<BrunoSpr> TO "roiredX": you can try to repackage: move the hpkg in a directory then mkdir temp; cd temp; package extract ../xyz.hpkg ; copy files; package create ../-..hpkg; copy the package back in /system/packages/

<Animortis> So how well does WebPositive work for most people?
<Animortis> I greatly appreciate the work done on it, but I don't get good results. Maybe others do better?
Miyu is now known as hackkitten
<Animortis> Though it is improving
<bitigchi> Animortis: it's mediocre with limited to none media support
<Animortis> Yeah. I am hoping I can do lots of work with it soon. Then I'd probably drop Linux.
<Animortis> I think Pulko or waddle does most the work with it. They've really done a great job.
<Animortis> I wonder what the last hurdle is
<Animortis> To super-usefulness
<Skyl3r> I just installed Haiku on my desktop yesterday. I was surprised how well it "just worked" out of the box. normally I have some troubles getting audio to work
<Animortis> It is rather good. Why I decided to help promote it.

<PulkoMandy> and none of my work done for the last year or so is available in current package repos because it is incompatible with beta2
<PulkoMandy> so basically, no progress for a year
<PulkoMandy> beta3 will allow to fix this
<PulkoMandy> so expect some major update in the next few weeks (or try the new version by compiling it yourself)
<PulkoMandy> and the unability to share my work has not motivated me a lot to work on it this year
<zdykstra> that's nice to hear, PulkoMandy
<PulkoMandy> if I can roll my updates more regularly after beta3, hopefully I will fix more things

<gordonjcp> Flexman: for Haiku?
<gordonjcp> Flexman: pretty much anything that runs Linux, more or less
<gordonjcp> Flexman: well - anything x86
<AlwaysLivid> FYI: Freenode password leak situation (If you haven't logged in recently, you're fine), read more about it in this Twitter thread: https://twitter.com/ariadneconill/status/1402743352920006657
<gordonjcp> AlwaysLivid: comedy gold, was just reading that
<Flexman> gordonjcp: even if it's new?
<gordonjcp> Flexman: new should be okay, although you might have fun if you have really strange wifi drivers
<AlwaysLivid> I guess I do feel vindicated against the people that mocked me regarding how "all of this was just a fad that was going to go away in 3 months", gordonjcp.
<gordonjcp> Flexman: I'm running it on oldish core i5 machines though
<gordonjcp> AlwaysLivid: I was more "aw hell, another server to join, let's see how long this - oh, this is actually pretty bad..."
<AlwaysLivid> Either way, if any of you logged in on Freenode and especially reuse the password, please do so.
<gordonjcp> AlwaysLivid: ever read Catch 22?
<gordonjcp> AlwaysLivid: I do, but it's a junk password that got pwned years ago
<AlwaysLivid> Nope, adding it to my bucket list.
<AlwaysLivid> Also known as: todo list, but much less optimistic
<gordonjcp> oh well I won't tell you about the Snowden bit but basically that's how I felt the more I dug into the Freenode shenanigans
<AlwaysLivid> wait, a snowden bit in a book published before my grandparents (probably, we don't ask about ages) were even born? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catch-22
<AlwaysLivid> the author certainly must've been ahead of his time (?)
<gordonjcp> heh
<gordonjcp> different Snowden
<AlwaysLivid> Should definitely give this a read.
