<Begasus>
that's a way to keep people away from trying to create issues ... The AUR package is unofficial and I have no idea who created it. Please do not use it.
<win8linux[m]>
Hmm, now I want to send a PR to change it.
<win8linux[m]>
However, it might get rejected especailly if I mention it's for Haiku support.
<Begasus>
my point :)
<Begasus>
it's also a dependency, maybe you could write a recipe for that (cglm) :)
<win8linux[m]>
It exists already (glm).
<win8linux[m]>
But CMake will always download the dep itself.
<win8linux[m]>
Already tried including it in the dep list.
<win8linux[m]>
Starting to wonder if the earlier 'cos' fixes broke something else.
<Begasus>
maybe it doesn't take that export
<Begasus>
win8linux[m], before I start taking on to a port/recipe I check if the source build in Terminal (without a recipe), if that works I start on writing the recipe for it

win8linux[m]: I think your 'fix' will break things.
<phschafft>
strcpy() is a function to copy strings (as the name suggests) and cos is a function. it's strange that after changing that the compiler did not complain again because of the invalid type.
<phschafft>
I maybe have missed it, but is there a link to said network.c?
<win8linux[m]>
<phschafft> "win8linux: I think your 'fix..." <- I did suspect the possibility, but tried it anyways since the 'cos' fixes were suggested by the compiler.
<Begasus>
don't always trust the compiler ;)
<win8linux[m]>
Heh, maybe only with rustc. :P
<win8linux[m]>
Got curious about Rust lately and was told to completely trust the compiler.
<phschafft>
ah it is what I thought, a number of #ifdefs ;)
<phschafft>
a better fix, yet not a perfect one would be something like:
<Not-a434>

I saw on your Twitter feed that you bought a new laptop for Haiku. How's it working?

well, I have ethernet and screen brightness settings, native resolution and sound
<PulkoMandy>
I don't have wifi, touchpad, and trackpoint yet

I know more or less what to do for the touchpad
<Vidrep_64>
Having the skillset to fix your own issues is always handy :)
<PulkoMandy>
the ethernet was waddlesplash's work (and FreeBSD's). So having the direct support line of other Haiku developers is also nice :)

saw a dell laptop ad on tv yesterday, i was not expecting seeing a computer ad again on tv for the ret of my life

PulkoMandy do you think this commit 4e37ed5c0e6c8402b9967451b89b380bc0397a39 will solve my eturbotouch touchpad to be detected ?
<Anarchos>
extrowerk i don't understand : your screenshot doesn't mention a solution to a mail daemon problem, but a gtk application named clawsmail ??
<AbortRetryFail>
extrowerk: huh neat, I didn't know Haiku could do scaling like that. The native apps and window decor look like they handle it better than claws-mail :)

hello jmairboeck
<extrowerk>
Anarchos: it is just a gtk based email client. there are some folks who can1t use maildaemon because some troubles with their email server or something similar. for them claws can be a bridgegap solution.
<extrowerk>
AbortRetryFail: no idea what you meant with scaling
<extrowerk>
you mean the whitespaces in the claws window? No, it just simply doesn't found the application resources (like icons). So it just doesn't shows any icons
<AbortRetryFail>
the UI scales up
<AbortRetryFail>
I'm used to using it on a tiny 800x480 display so it's not something I've played with.
<Anarchos>
extrowerk i have Mail configured with my outlook.live.com account, but i must admit that my outlook folders lay in /boot/home/mail AND in /boot/home/mail/in, which is disturbing
<extrowerk>
Anarchos: yep, mail daemon is somehow like to use more than one folder for some kind of reason.
<extrowerk>
multiple accounts can be a trouble with MD
<Anarchos>
extrowerk the /boot/home/mail folders are empty, but i fear to lost all my emails if i delete them...

Is there a emulation for the OPT key?
<phschafft>
also is there any (API) documentation on the filesystem (features)?
<extrowerk>
phschafft: maybe the practical file-system design document
<extrowerk>
phschafft: look for the "Practical File System Design - Dominic Giampaolo" book
<phschafft>
oh, I was more thinking about a standard developer perspective. like I know the POSIX API, but would like to know the diff for Haiku.
<extrowerk>
i won't be able to give you any pointer, please wait for somebody else.
<Anarchos>
phschafft for the OPT key i don't know , but you can change the modifers via Keymap > File > set the modifier keys
<Anarchos>
phschafft «Practical file system design» goes pretty deep in all the details of BFS
* phschafft
nods slowly.
<phschafft>
the OPT key hint worked. thank you for that.
<Anarchos>
phschafft i am glad to know, i never changed the modifier keys myself, i was too afraid to brake something working :)
<phschafft>
this is a read-only VM with me playing around. so actually not unhappy if I learn something by breaking things. :)

not on every machine it seems
