If you still have the installation files for the old NetPositive and use the 32bit version of Haiku,that should work.But I doubt that any website written in the last 15 years will be usable with it.
<TheEricExperiment>
Oh, I don't plan on running modern websites
<TheEricExperiment>
I wanna play around with it and theoldnet.com
<Niklas[m]12>
Then it's worth a try ;)
<TheEricExperiment>
Cool, I'll try to find the install files for it
<TheEricExperiment>
Do you know if netscape has ever released a version for BeOS?
<TheEricExperiment>
Or Opera?
<Niklas[m]12>
I think Opera was available,don't know about Netscape
<TheEricExperiment>
Cool, thanks, I'll try to find Opera for it
<Niklas[m]12>
There was also a old version of Firefox called "BeZilla" which is still available in HaikuDepot I think
<TheEricExperiment>
I couldn't find it
<TheEricExperiment>
I searched for it within Haiku
<Niklas[m]12>
Look at Github in HaikuArchives,maybe you need to compile it yourself nowadays

rennj i just need a ghostscript viewer or a libgs to link in bghostview
<rennj>
ghostscipt is dead to me i think...i forget whay i tried prior to mupdf, but i compiled couple of programs trying to find a better pdf viewer than firefox/chrome.
<rennj>
be nice to save space and just use the firefox/chrome application i already have
<rennj>
but i didnt like the experience in those 2 browsers..so i went searching for application
<rennj>
pdf2ps might have been an option
<rennj>
pdf2html
<rennj>
i just want to read the damn documentation
<Anarchos>
the firefox/chrome application ? on haikuos, i doubt there is one ...
<rennj>
this is linux, haiku i could not use for daily tasks since it lacks a functioning browser
<Anarchos>
rennj....
<rennj>
chrome headless mode WRP web rendering proxy..if i pointed haiku client to the server for web rendering
<Anarchos>
i ask for haiku
<rennj>
ask in 1 hand and shit in the other see which one fills up first
<rennj>
haiku and netpostive work fine with WRP...but thats because chrome is fetching the pages and generating a clickable gif/png image for old browser
<rennj>
course client / server...so you need another box
<rennj>
A browser-in-browser "proxy" server that allows to use historical / vintage web browsers on the modern web. It works by rendering a web page in to a GIF or PNG image with clickable imagemap.
<rennj>
clickable imagemap ...i.e. the links work in the image.
