<bparker_>
I tried the latest nightly iso on debian 11 with qemu 5.2.0, and the default e1000e nic model does not seem to pass any layer3 traffic besides DHCP
<bparker_>
if I change the model to just e1000, it works
<bparker_>
but only after changed the default mtu of 9004 (??) to 1500

bparker_: e1000e doesn't work on QEMU anymore for unknown reasons. it used to, but upgrading the freebsd driver and now it doesn't
<waddlesplash>
e1000 not working without changing MTU is much more weird

waddlesplash: but on qemu 6 it works fine, at least with R1B3 (haven't tried a nightly)
<waddlesplash>
yes
<waddlesplash>
the freebsd driver upgrade broke it somehow
<bparker_>
ah
<waddlesplash>
I asked, the fbsd devs said it still works on real hardware e1000e devices
<waddlesplash>
so I didn't bother looking any further

Hello everybody! I am a newcomer on your channel. Sorry for my bad English. Does anyone know how to run firefox on Haiku. When I tried to run it I got three errors: runtime_loader: cannot find .comment section, runtime_loader: cannot determine gcc version and cannot find libpthread.so.0 no such file or directory. Thank you.
<Begasus>
There is no Firefox on Haiku?
<LinuxUser>
I've download firefox binary for linux.
<Begasus>
That won't work ;) We are not Linux :)
<LinuxUser>
Are you Unix?
<Begasus>
You can use WebPositive (native browser)
<Begasus>
This is Ubuntu yes, other lapotp is running Haiku
<Begasus>
There is also Otter that you can install and try out (and other browsers)

Ok. I've got anonther question: how to run or port VirtualBox on Haiku
jessicah has joined #haiku
<LinuxUser>
I downloaded .run file from Linux Distributions\All Distributions. Then I ran it. It extracted files. First error was: systemctl command not found
<LinuxUser>
Second error was no such file or directory(Virtualbox tried to use linux directories but Haiku doesn't have those directories.)
<Begasus>
No VirtualBox for Haiku also, there is qemu

atk uptodate now
<LinuxUser>
But I tried to compile it from source and compiler detected environment: it was haiku_amd64. But it gave me an error: variable $KBUILDDIR doexn't exixt
<LinuxUser>
I have got latest 64bit version of Haiku
<Begasus>
Beta3 or nightly?
<LinuxUser>
beta3
<Begasus>
nightly is more on par with recent changes, so for development I think it's better to switch to it
<LinuxUser>
ok, i will try it
<Begasus>
there is an option to switch from Beta3 to nightly without re-installing

Begasus: the error you posted from haikuporter seems to be about not being able to load PNG images. Maybe you need to add haiku_datatranslators (if Haiku translators are used there)
