Congrats pairisto[m]! Best of luck on your project :-)
<pairisto[m]>
Thank you! does anyone know where I can start talking to korli and scottmc as those are my mentors for the project?

Guess the best bet would be the mailing list (at least as a starting point)

pairisto[m]: hello, I will add contributors to a private mailing list and I think we'll try to set up a video call with all mentors and contributors to start things. Just give me a few hours to get to it :)

Begasus: i think "First" was just a tag name that was chosen, not part of the port name
<augiedoggie>
should maybe be put in dev-lang/tiny
<Begasus>
had been looking at repology but couldn't find a reference there augiedoggie (and added it in the first place next to gcc (come to think dump idea :) ))
<Begasus>
there is alreay a "tiny" reference at repology, that doesn't point to this one
<augiedoggie>
yeah, in this case it's just an interpreter, not a full compiler, seems to fit better in dev-lang
<augiedoggie>
yeah, i don't think it is in any of the portage overlays

[haikuports/haikuports] Begasus dfac7b3 - opencv, switch to python3.9, build fix for 32bit (#8594)
<OscarL>
hey! I had that one already marked out on the list? (guess it was opencv3 then?)
<OscarL>
Yup PR #8571. Will add #8594 to it too then.
<OscarL>
Seems LibreOffice moved to Py 3.9 on #7981 (missed that one).

<Begasus>
wasn't opencv3 already fixed?
HaikuUser has quit []
<OscarL>
yeah, that's why I had it marked (I just thought there was only one "opencv" :-D)
HaikuUser has joined #haiku
<Begas_VM>
it was one listed in the reports, didn't see the python version untill I started to look into it :)
<Begasus>
well, this gave it away a bit too :) requires "numpy_x86_python3" of package "opencv_x86_tools-4.5.5-1" could not be resolved
<PulkoMandy>
trungnt2910[m]: I think "payoneer card" they send you a visa or mastercard that you can use to withdraw the money, and "bank transfer" is for sending the money to your existing bank account. But these things didn't exist when I was a student so I'm not sure

<PulkoMandy>
Nothing about it in the gsoc contributor guide?
<trungnt2910[m]>
The email did provide information, however I'm interested in some subtler details like what charges more fee and things like that.
<trungnt2910[m]>
In the end I chose the bank transfer.

is Haiku built from scratch, or was it based on some BeOS source release? not super familiar with the history of this project
Ampilin has joined #haiku
<Skipp_OSX>
There were a few components that were released as open source before or just after Be's downfall, but the rest, including the entire kernel, and app_server, are built from scratch, piece by piece.
<Skipp_OSX>
The Deskbar and Tracker are from BeOS released as open-source, as is the Mail app and kit and maybe a few other things I'm not sure.
<Ampilin>
Hola como estan?
<Ampilin>
el otro dia vi un mensaje que decia que solo se podia hablar en ingles, puede ser?
<Skipp_OSX>
lo siento, yo no hablo español.
<Skipp_OSX>
escribe en ingles (if you can) por favor
<Ampilin>
I only read the other day that you can't write in Spanish right here on this channel. Could be?
