(UnrealNeil) in DriveSetup i can initialise my USB drive as GUID or Intel.... but in the command line app mkfs i have the choice of btrfs, ntfs, bfs or fat... How can I initialise my USB as a GUID from the command line?
<B2IA>
(UnrealNeil) aka GPT

What is B2IA? A bridge bot?
<braewoods__>
UnrealNeil: Wrong tool I presume. mkfs is for formatting partitions into a usable filesystem. I would be surprised if it can handle label creation.
<Begasus>
braewoods__, bridge for BeShare
<braewoods__>
Begasus: BeShare? Hm.

<PulkoMandy>
BeShare is an old P2P and chat app for BeOS and Haiku, not very popular elsewhere. But some people insist on keeping it alive :)
<B2IA>
(UnrealNeil) braewoods__: Thanks. Do you know the right Haiku tool for a disk GPT intiialise then?
<braewoods__>
UnrealNeil: I dug through the source code and I couldn't find anything other than drivesetup that handles partition tables. The only CLI tool I saw is a port of gptfdisk, which only handles GPT labels.
<braewoods__>
And obviously isn't installed by default as it is a port.
<B2IA>
(UnrealNeil) braewoods_: Thanks
<braewoods__>
gptfdisk being a cross-platform partitioner tool that works on multiple unix clones.
<braewoods__>
Surprised GNU parted wasn't available honestly.
<B2IA>
(UnrealNeil) PulkoMandy: I haven't used IRC, since microsoft pulled MS Comic Chat (15-20 years ago). But when I want that kind of communication I use BeShare... Am I the odd one?
<PulkoMandy>
Not really, I am connecting here using an XMPP bridge and a lot of people are connecting from Matrix
<B2IA>
(UnrealNeil) **this kind
<PulkoMandy>
all of us are a bit odd :D it just happens that IRC remains an easy way to connect all these protocols together, even if it only supports only a minimal feature set
<braewoods__>
UnrealNeil: Don't ask me, I'm just a C programmer who mostly uses Linux. I'm here to ask questions related to making my software portable to Haiku.
<B2IA>
(UnrealNeil) braewoods_: Thanks, ok, cool.
<braewoods__>
I dunno if anyone will want to use this program on Haiku but it should be doable since it just needs USB support in the kernel as far as hardware goes.

Begasus: could you retest burp on x64, and also on the latest nightly? after 56959
<Begasus>
would need to install it in VM waddlesplash , will do (but wont be for today) :)
<waddlesplash>
ok, if you don't have a nightly I can test myself
<waddlesplash>
just testing a nightly 32bit above that hrev may be relevant
<Begasus>
only beta's installed atm
<waddlesplash>
ah, ok.
<Begasus>
that way, I'm mostly sure it builds fine on the buildmasters too
<Begasus>
k, round * on freetype latests (trying to build the demos)
<Begasus>
bugger refuses to build the shared libraries with the demos :/
