OscarL: i figured out why your `query` from the other day was returning no results

<augiedoggie>
the bebook bookmars
<augiedoggie>
bookmarks
<OscarL>
BEOS:TYPE one. right.
<augiedoggie>
yeah, it needs a name(or wildcard) to search first before you filter on the attribute
<augiedoggie>
like .... query -a "((name=\"**\")&&(BEOS:TYPE==\"image/*\"))"%
<augiedoggie>
got some extra junk % on the end from the copy/paste
<OscarL>
heh, actually have one like that on my bash history: query "(BEOS:TYPE = application/x-vnd.Be-doc_bookmark) && (name = User)"
<OscarL>
augiedoggie: query -a "((BEOS:TYPE=application/x-vnd.Be-doc_bookmark) && (name=deskbar_location))" does work, thanks. Seems "name=" is a bit too picky, thou, as using "name=*deskbar_location*" yields no results
<augiedoggie>
strange
<OscarL>
(and "name=deskbar_location*" works as well)

and "name=AddItem\(\)" does seems to work, but "name=AddItem*" does, sigh...
<OscarL>
(most of those bookmark files actually end in "()")
<augiedoggie>
hm, maybe try single quotes to make sure bash isn't trying to expand the wildcard
<OscarL>
query -a '((BEOS:TYPE=application/x-vnd.Be-doc_bookmark) && (name=*deskbar_location))' <<< no results still.

<augiedoggie>
seems to work better if name comes first
<OscarL>
query -a '(name=** && BEOS:TYPE="application/x-vnd.Be-doc_bookmark")' << might work, but it is unusably slow. Seems to be scanning the whole HDD :-/. Used to be an "instantaneous" query when BEOS:TYPE was indexed (on BeOS' times).
<OscarL>
Oh well... guess I'll have to masage the predicate before calling the query from Pe's BeBookFetch :-)
<OscarL>
(can't even kill the query now, lol... rebooting)
<augiedoggie>
i had that problem too, it comes back eventually
<augiedoggie>
other times the query returns in a few seconds

in any case, thanks for the tip, augiedoggie! (will see if i can make it work somehow)
* augiedoggie
wonders if indexing BEOS:TYPE would have a noticeable performance impact
<OscarL>
Guess I should try that if leaving the bookmark files unpacked (now I have them in a .hpkg file).

Seems Begasus found his way out of the backups :-D
<Begasus>
hi OscarL :)
<OscarL>
Hello there Begasus! :-)
<Begasus>
Even got ZETA 1.5 up and running in VMware :P
<mmu_man>
:)
<Begasus>
but it's not the same anymore
<Begasus>
rather stick with Haiku :)
<Begasus>
even got the backup from zeta-games from way back :P
<OscarL>
I have, somewhere, the 1.21 CD Bernd sent me in 2005/6. I think I've never tried the 1.5 update.
<Begasus>
I got the CD personal from Bernd in Mannheim :) (showed us through the building, well actualy got the tour from thaflo), had a talk with koki there
<OscarL>
neither did much with 1.21, as it ran SLOW on my Athlon 900 MHz, 256 MB RAM :-(
<Begasus>
was pretty good on my P4 back then

<Skipp_OSX>
been meaning to get some screenshots for these enhancements for Haiku but I haven't gotten Zeta running

I'm sorry, it's ok if you can't get them I just was hoping to have a reference in case we ever want to reproduce those changes in Haiku

I think Lisa Westbrook did a pretty good job.

yes probably, for /boot/system/cache, non-packaged, packages, settings and var

I'll take those tickets, yes
<Skipp_OSX>
does this mean that you have updated to the latest nightly and you're seeing gray background on read-only folders OscarL?
nosycat has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<OscarL>
Skipp_OSX: thanks for tackling those. I haven't yet tested an updated nightly, sorry (tend to stick on beta4 for HaikuPorts work). But will check those ASAP.
<OscarL>
https://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/17943 << I think you already added it to your ToDo list... so just mentioning it coz I found the proper ticket :-D
<Skipp_OSX>
ah ok, I just thought that maybe it made you notice the issue because it's easy to tell if you're on read-only or not
