<Begasus> Hi LinuxUser , long time no see
<LinuxUser> Ah yes
<LinuxUser> I'm still trying to solve problem with nginx
<Begasus> what was it again?
Begas_VM has joined #haiku
<LinuxUser> I deployed laravel app on my nginx server(nginx is in docker container) i set up temporany "domain" in etc/hosts for test. Made a config according to tutorial. And after i made an url route /about in web.php that renders view about.blade.php. but when i try to access /about is downloads this file instead of view
<Begas_VM> never checked further then accessing it over the network with a default install, that seemed to work fine here
<LinuxUser> The main goal is i think my nginx doesnt recognize laravel's routes correctly
<LinuxUser> Maybe switch to apache soon

<mrjones> Hi there.
<mrjones> How is it with Beta4 and installation when you already have a pre-existing EFI partition (on another harddisk)?
MajorBiscuit has joined #haiku
<Begasus> no idea here mrjones (never used EFI partitioning with Haiku)
* Begasus crosses fingers 32bit buildmaster keeps it up :)
<Habbie> i have haiku and efi, but i don't understand the question
<Habbie> you can just put the haiku efi loader on the existing efi partition, i think?
<mrjones> Yes, but does Beta4 do that automatically (on /dev/sda), or is that still manual like in Beta3?
<mrjones> should be noted Haiku goes to /dev/sdc (third disk in system)
<Habbie> it is manual in beta4
<mrjones> Okay. That makes it a lot easier, actually :)
<Habbie> :)
<mrjones> Well, it's not gonna install itself. See you later.

<mrjones> That was quick.
<Begas_VM> done already?
<mrjones> first part anyway - now for adding to EFI partition and configuring grub
<Begas_VM> ah :) crossing fingers for you :)
<mrjones> who doesn't love grub? :P
<Begas_VM> it's been a while here :P
<mrjones> haven't really touched it for three years, so I have forgotten more than I ever knew about it
<botifico-c849d97b> [haikuports/haikuports] Begasus pushed 1 commit to master [+1/-1/±0] https://github.com/haikuports/haikuports/compare/985d78492fff...422c1200c0a7
<botifico-c849d97b> [haikuports/haikuports] Begasus 422c120 - colorama, bump version (#8760)
<Habbie> mrjones, install refind, skip grub :)
<mrjones> bit of an issue when dual booting with gentoo. And for some odd reason I happen to have a 2 MB bios_grub partition which is not needed afaict.
<mrjones> I need stronger coffee for this
<Habbie> you can always pick grub in refind
<Habbie> my boot flow is bios -> refind -> haiku
<Habbie> and bios -> refind -> grub -> debian
<Habbie> although refind also finds the debian kernel and can in fact boot it directly
<mrjones> yeah, it is in portage. I'll try that - but I still need stronger coffee
<Habbie> you can also just download it and copy it to the efi partition - but indeed, i let apt install it for me
<zdykstra> mornin' Habbie, Begasus
<Habbie> morning!
<zdykstra> or I guess mid-afternoon for you Habbie
<Habbie> just about 4pm :)
<mrjones> Exactly 16:00 here
<Habbie> i can sense mrjones is close by!
<zdykstra> I forget that most of Europe is on one time zone. I have Zagreb time in my task bar, and for some reason I thought it was an hour ahead of western EU
<mrjones> Spain is CET too, right? I bit weird with that. I can see Denmark and Germany having same timezone but Denmark and Spain?
<Habbie> zdykstra, well, it really should be
<Habbie> mrjones, yes, but not portugal
<mrjones> right
<Habbie> note that it's summer so we're all CEST
<mrjones> go north from France to UK and you go back in time :P
<zdykstra> in more ways than one
<Habbie> on https://www.timeanddate.com/time/map/#!cities=281 you can nicely see how wrong it all is
<Habbie> spain/france/netherlands should be on english time
<zdykstra> yeah, that's what's so confusing to me :)
<Habbie> most of the US looks a lot saner on that map
<Habbie> (brand new sentence)
<zdykstra> lol
<mrjones> goes to show how many time zones we have in the Kingdom of Denmark (don't forget our secret weapon up north)
<zdykstra> I'm in Chicago, so close to the EST time zone
<mrjones> yeah that one is close.
<Begas_VM> 'lo zdykstra
<zdykstra> well, "in Chicago" meaning that I can take a train from where I live and be in chicago in ~1hour
<mrjones> Close enough. I live on a small island. 1 hour from here will get me not very far by ferry.
<zdykstra> so I'm guessing you don't get any same day Amazon Prime deliveries
<mrjones> I am satisfied with delivery within 24 hours - or 24 days :P
<zdykstra> if it's not too revealing, can you share what island you live on?
<mrjones> Sure. It is called Agersø. It is in Great Belt. And small enough that any letter styled to Kristian will end in my mailbox ;)
<mrjones> Kristian, the yellow house before Karl Olavs farm, Agersø, Denmark ;)
<mrjones> the mailman knows where it is
<zdykstra> I wonder if I could adapt to a life like that. I'm so used to being able to hop into a car and just go ... anywhere.
<mrjones> I can do that too. As long as it is anywhere on the island - or the ferry is not malfunctioning for once...
<zdykstra> less than 200 people on the island. Wow!
<mrjones> That sounds about right.
<mrjones> 202 by 1 january 2023.
<Skipp_OSX> I suppose that Greenland counts as Denmark so it adds some more time zones
<mrjones> Yep, and why we have a land border with Canada _and_ Germany
<Skipp_OSX> so does Russia, good for you
<mrjones> why does my system boot in legacy mode with efi?
<Habbie> mrjones, how can you tell?
<mrjones> well refind-install (efibootmgr actually) complains about "EFI variables are not supported on this system."
<zdykstra> is efivarfs mounted?
<mrjones> no, because they are not there for some reason
<Habbie> oh, this is in gentoo?
<mrjones> yep, it is in gentoo. Haiku is just peachy.
<zdykstra> `mount -t efivarfs efivarfs /sys/firmware/efi/efivars/` so that fails ?
<Habbie> mrjones, i'm not even sure haiku knows the difference
<zdykstra> if so, just disable any legacy modes in your BIOS setup and force it to be EFI only everywhere
<mrjones> mount: /sys/firmware/efi/efivars: unknown file system type »efivarfs«.
<mrjones> Habbie > Haiku just sort of works without further ado.
<Habbie> yes
<zdykstra> mrjones: modprobe efivarfs, maybe

<mrjones> But thx for pointing me towards fixing my gentoo kernel :)
<waddlesplash> mrjones: does it list a boot volume in the options?
<waddlesplash> IIRC the bootloader doesn't automatically select partitions on other disks but you can pick them by opening the first menu

<Begasus> me too :)
<Begasus> big floppies ... :)
<PulkoMandy> Begasus, the build error for Renga is because it tried to build with gloox 1.0.25 instead of 1.0.27, I guess some requires need to be adjusted
<mrjones> Wordstar on CP/M 2.2 , Amstrad CPC 664. Those were the days. Small floppies, but could withstand a steamroller
<Begas_VM> thought so PulkoMandy
<Begas_VM> a revbuld should be enough once gloox is build and available PulkoMandy
<Begasus> best wait untill buildmaster on 32bit is finished so the packages all end up in the depot
<Begas_VM> Please avoid running ``setup.py`` directly. (with the new setuptools package, they commend using build/installer or other standard tools nowadays) :)
