looks up what liblouis is
<zard>
Wait, it has to do with Braille!?
<OscarL>
yup
<zard>
Haiku getting braille support? :P
<Begas_VM>
old patch around at haikuports zard, loose ends ... :)
<OscarL>
I think I need to install a newer Linux on my little netbook (using it to compare results with the Python installed there)... 3.5 :-/ Won't be getting anything newer on that Xubuntu 16.04 :-D

Welcome to the club. I had to update my Ubuntu recently too
<OscarL>
I think I'll go for Void Linux for this one. Ubuntu's ISOs got too big for my taste (same with latest Debian).
<Begas_VM>
16.04? 0_°
<OscarL>
Begas_VM: if ain't broken... :-D
<Begas_VM>
update it? :P
<OscarL>
repos already offline for it :-D
<Begas_VM>
you're not running alpha4 still are you?

no, but I do hate that I lost those really early image files of Haiku that booted in text mode :-(
<OscarL>
(around 2005, before app_server actually worked)
<Begas_VM>
good old days :)
<Begas_VM>
k, we don't have a symlink to /run?
<OscarL>
I was all smiles when I got my driver working for my TV/FM tuner card, listening FM while on Haiku's "consoled" was pure joy for me :-D
<OscarL>
too bad never got the rest of the driver working, LOL.
<Begas_VM>
working base is fine too :)
<OscarL>
I have a tendency to bite more than I can chew, so it seems (that card was way to complex for my silly brain :-D)

bah... the strftime/strptime bug is actually somewhere on our Pythons and not on Haiku.

eeps :)

I should have gone for a .c/.cpp version of the test case first (but as I such at C/C++..., and the Python code seemed to me to just be calling strftime from the system...)

feel free to ping me for helping with testing C things

https://bpa.st/TGSI2 << same results on Linux for both. On Haiku the .cpp version also matches, but the .py fails for "%c" and "%X" (and %x is not quite matching the format either).

anyone tried to port tinycc yet?

have any of you used xmodmap to switch linux keymap into haiku style?
<mrjones>
e.g. turning super into alt and alt(gr) into super
<OscarL>
I had a terrible day dealing with 3 linux installs failing one way or the other (all just to double check some Python test results, sigh).
<mrjones>
and then you tried to print the test results, but your cups installation doesn't like your brother printer?
<OscarL>
I haven't, mrjones. In fact, that's one of my pain points with Haiku.
<OscarL>
(I mean, the AltGr thing)
<mrjones>
OscarL, I changed my AltGr to super right - so it is equally borked in both systems :p
<mrjones>
left alt is cmd in both, but altgr in linux is super right. In haiku it is cmd as well.
<OscarL>
What does drives me crazy on Linux... is being unable to send windows to the foreground with a right-click on the title bar :-)
<mrjones>
but you can just use the keymap thingy to fix shortcuts.
<mrjones>
double click to minimize doesn't work in linux for me. And also not right-click title bar.
<mrjones>
stack and tile also does not work with xfwm4...
