<erysdren> auggiedoggie: can't find image2icon, any idea where i can get it?
<augiedoggie> i think i use my own personal copy, i can clone it off my gitea server and zip it up
<erysdren> sure
<augiedoggie> you'll have to copy the addon to ~/config/non-packaged/addons/Tracker
<augiedoggie> after it's built
<augiedoggie> s/addons/add-ons/
<erysdren> i put the executable in the folder but it doesn't show up in the tracker addons menu
<erysdren> ah nvm
<erysdren> where do the icons go once generated?
FreeFull has quit []
<augiedoggie> it's stored as an attribute of the image file itself
<erysdren> ah
<augiedoggie> next step is to use 'resattr -r -o foo.rsrc foo.png'
<augiedoggie> last step is to decompile the resource with `rc -d foo.rsrc`
<augiedoggie> i think there are easier ways, but that's what i can remember right now :P
<erysdren> thanks
<augiedoggie> it was a bit easier back in the BeOS days because you could use ResEdit, but there aren't any good resource editors for Haiku
<augiedoggie> ResEdit is closed source and only runs on 32-bit :(

<WildKeccak> I think I'm having a me too with bug #18184. I have pics and they are strange. The F11 boot menu on my motherboard doesn't boot Haiku. Instead, it shows me an altered boot screen. It's the same, but different.
<WildKeccak> I don't think I should file for the cause, but for the behavior or circumstance.
<WildKeccak> I'll say "anomaly concerning . . . whereby . . ." or something similar, and note the appearance

<zdykstra> That's a very loaded question

<Udi> is there an equivalent to sudo?
<Udi> am trying to install node-red with npm but don't have the permisions to install at /boot/system/lib/node_modules/node-red
<augiedoggie> you have to install to one of the non-packaged directories, everything else is read only
<Udi> Thanks augiedoggie, removed -g from npm install which then installed in the current dir
<Udi> augiedoggie I'd like to set an alias in my login script. Where do I find it?

<Guest3553> What's the state of filesystem encryption? I see some really old "driveencryption" driver based on truecrypt, also see a few references to fuse so I'm wondering if encfs would work

<The_Ringmaster> what's the method for expanding a be formatted disk to a larger size? I have my haiku install in a vm and increased the size of the disk but don't know how to expand the bfs partition

<augiedoggie> you can try the `resizefs` command but i don't know how well it works
illwieckz has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<augiedoggie> i would set up the VM with the new disk attached at the same time as the old one and use Installer to copy from one disk to another
<The_Ringmaster> there's only one disk, I just expanded the size of it from 30 to 120 GB
<augiedoggie> right, i'm saying you should create a second disk

<PulkoMandy> Resizing bfs partitions is not possible at the moment. There is a 10 year old patch series on Gerrit that no one wants to finish :(
<The_Ringmaster> so resizefs does nothing then?
<PulkoMandy> It asks the filesystem to resize and the filesystem replies "I don't know how to do this yet"
<PulkoMandy> So, yes, it does nothing for now
<The_Ringmaster> but installing to a larger separate disk from the old one would affectively do the same thing? as augiedoggie
<The_Ringmaster> mentioned
<PulkoMandy> Yes, that's the recommended way to do this

<pairisto[m]> Hey everyone, question. I have gotten the TUN interface to be able to write to the driver for the sending functionality but I can't seem to invoke the `tun_receive_data` (https://review.haiku-os.org/c/haiku/+/6608/5/src/add-ons/kernel/network/devices/tun/tun.cpp) function. When I set up the interface like this:... (full message at <https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/KdSxVvtRkqMgHcxTEInLxjPA>)

<mmu_man> pairisto[m]: the receive_data hook in sTunModule is NULL
<mmu_man> so it will never be called
<mmu_man> seems I originally set it this way, can't remember why. Possibly because it crached or something alike
<pairisto[m]> and git stash apply strikes again -_-
<mmu_man> oh, I never wrote it so that'd be why :)
