alright new question, so I've working on the read/receive part of the driver/interface and I am getting an issue when I initialize the driver/interface. I run `ifconfig tun inet 10.10.10.10 255.255.255.0 up` and immediately something is calling `tun_receive_data()` a bunch of times and I do not know what is calling it infinitely? the code for it is here ->
<pairisto[m]>
At first I assumed this was normal behavior for a driver but it slows the system down a lot

<pairisto[m]>

<pairisto[m]>
* doing good?
<Begasus>
yeah :)
<pairisto[m]>
nice :)
<Begasus>
did you manage to test openvpn?
<pairisto[m]>
not quite yet, I've been too deep into finishing the TUN driver/interface
<Begasus>
np, priorities :)
<pairisto[m]>
currently dealing with a problem that I have no clue to solve
<pairisto[m]>
* no clue how to solve
<Begasus>
maybe korli is around and pops in in a bit
<pairisto[m]>
hoping 🤞
<Begasus>
been trying to get this laptop to boot into native Haiku
<pairisto[m]>
honestly I might as well start poking around the openvpn stuff since I don't know how to start with this problem
<Begasus>
so far managed to install it to disk
<pairisto[m]>
what laptop?
<Begasus>
HP ryzen i7
<Begasus>
iirc :)
<Begasus>
AMD Ryzen 7 5825U with Radeon Graphics 2.00 GHz
<pairisto[m]>
is it the envy gaming laptop?
<Begasus>
wifi not working, but got me a wifi dongle that should work (tested ok on another laptop)
<Begasus>
nah, not a real gamer here, mostly used to build/check ports for haiku
<Begasus>
touchpad not working also, that's a bummer
<pairisto[m]>
driver development time whooo
<Begasus>
can't even code 'hello world' :P
<pairisto[m]>
there might be a driver to port?

most touchpad's should be supported, have to get the specs and gather some information before I can file a ticket to the bugtracker
<Begasus>
it's a fairly new laptop, so maybe only some information should be added (or already is, running R1B4 without updates so far
<pairisto[m]>
fair enough
<Begasus>
first thing to figure out is how to add Haiku to efi boot :)

one thing I've noticed, putting the 32bit install on a USB stick doesn't seem to work when trying to boot it on this laptop, the 64bit however is detected fine?
<nielx[m]>
I have some issues with booting from 32 bit as well, using EFI
<Begasus>
bugger :/
<Begasus>
would love to have 32bit running native on this one

I can navigate in the bios to the drive, but in the end it doesn't boot or find the boot device, can't tell ...

hey korli I've been having a problem with development as of rn. I've working on the read/receive part of the driver/interface and I am getting an issue when I initialize the driver/interface with `ifconfig tun inet 10.10.10.10 255.255.255.0 up` and immediately something is calling `tun_receive_data()` infinitely and I do not know why? the code for it is here ->
<korli>
pairisto[m]: sorry, was away. when the interface is up, the device reader thread will call receive_data in a loop. receive_data should block in the driver read hook

k, tried again with a 32bit nightly (fresh downloaded) ... going into bios boot menu I can navigate to: boot from efi file ... Haiku ESP ... EFI ... BOOT ... BOOTIA32.EFI ... selected boot device failed :/

you need to use the 64bit bootloader in this configuration (EFI is either 32 or 64 bit but not both)
<PulkoMandy>
I don't remember if our 64bit bootloader can boot a 32bit install

nielx[m] i booted 32-bit haiku off a USB stick on an IBM ThinkPad Z60t
<erysdren>
what problems are you having?
<nielx[m]>
I flashed an anyboot image to a usb stick, and my bios boot menu does not seem to want to load from it
<nielx[m]>
I also tried to copy the 64 bit efi loader on the efi partition, but that did not work either

I'm testing Haiku on Chromebook. Just so that I don't waste my time: is it still true that Haiku has no 3D acceleration? And still no suspend (S3)?
<jason123santa>
does the trackpad work in haiku on a chromebook?

phcoder, yes, handling of interrupts in sdhci is not working very well. I think rewriting the code to use condition variables will make it a lot better but someone has to spend the time on it :)
