<soupertonic> hello. not sure if this is the right channel. if have troubles installing asahi linux with fedora kde plasma de. "downloading extra files" (specifically cisco openh264) crashes the installer. the server responds with 404 for the files the installer wants to download.

<runxiyu_> I'm trying to triple-boot, i.e. macOS (which I only use for installing Asahi), Asahi Fedora Remix, and OpenBSD, all on one system. Could I go about just installing Fedora Asahi the normal way (leaving some empty disk space), then use the Fedora Asahi installation's U-boot to load OpenBSD? Intuitively I feel like I don't need an extra set of m1n1 and u-boot, though I'm not sure how to
<runxiyu_> do it

<monthebiff> afternoon all, after a solid 11 hours of sleep im back to prodding this damn world of warcraft thing
<nicolas17> TIL WoW players sleep
<monthebiff> not when we're playing wow
<monthebiff> and i've not played in 2 years: honestly the game for me right now is getting it running :P
<monthebiff> could install it in mac os. won't :P
<monthebiff> question: is 0128:err:seh:segv_handler Got unexpected trap 0
<monthebiff> related to
<monthebiff> 0128:err:seh:segv_handler Got unexpected trap 0
<monthebiff> 0128:err:seh:segv_handler Got unexpected trap 0
<monthebiff> damn
<monthebiff> it's talking about linux execs i think. and the wow.exe isn't one of those but it feels similar.
<nicolas17> that's what muvm is for
<monthebiff> readelf complained about it not being a compatible binary
<nicolas17> everything in steam etc runs in a lightweight VM with 4K-sized pages
<monthebiff> yeh that was my thought process... if it is that, muvm should be the solution for that
<nicolas17> so "If an ELF executable or library has sections which are not aligned to 16K pages," it will still work inside the VM
<monthebiff> yeh
<monthebiff> thanks for confirming
<monthebiff> hmmm
<monthebiff> segfault is memory errors specifcally right?
crabbedhaloablut has joined #asahi

<monthebiff> is this 'bad'?
<monthebiff> 0100:err:seh:install_bpf prctl(PR_SET_SECCOMP, ...): Invalid argument.
<monthebiff> and then ive also got some errors about failing to load dxgkrnl.sys and dxgmms1.sys
<nicolas17> it's loading kernel drivers?
<monthebiff> unsure

<monthebiff> also got a message about the RPC server not being available...
<nicolas17> WoW runs on Wine on x86 Linux, right?
<monthebiff> yup
<nicolas17> maybe you should run it on x86 Linux with similar logging enabled for comparison
<nicolas17> so you know what errors are "normal"
<monthebiff> i launched it via steam, but yes.
<monthebiff> i've never had to look this much into it on x86, add to steam as an external game, hit run, and it worked.
<monthebiff> and i can't check on desktop atm, im in new zealand :P pc is in the UK
<monthebiff> good idea though

<monthebiff> so i got annoyed and deleted all of warcraft from my asahi install
<monthebiff> and then tried to re run the setup/installer from outside of steam. using muvm->fexbash->winefromarch->setup.exe
<monthebiff> and it didn't get anywhere near as far as the installer did from inside steam/ proton. which is a shame.
<monthebiff> have got plenty of messages about crashing processes though, lots of winedb not being able to attach.

<fl0_id> what's dtb?
<fl0_id> monthebiff. any pastebin site would be preferred for pasting
<fl0_id> I think they left again but maybe they'll read logs :)
<j`ey> fl0_id: dtb = device tree binary
<j`ey> it's what describes the hardware to the kernel
<fl0_id> ah right, makes sense. so they installed two different linux installs in the same "volume"?
