trungnt2910[m]: i believe it means that the first-stage bootloader didn't pass a hint to the second-stage bootloader as to where to find Haiku
<DHowett>
so it has to search every storage device and partition to figure it out
<trungnt2910[m]>
Strange, this happens when I use VMware to map a raw partition as a storage device for Haiku.

Short answer: not yet (unless some major work has been done in the last few weeks)
<x512[m]>
Note that waddlesplash recently reverted one of bfsresize patches that may break its operation.
<x512[m]>
trungnt2910: You can help by testing bfsresize patches.
<trungnt2910[m]>
I can't compile stuff right now...
<thomaslewis>
Hrm… I guess I wasn’t fully caught up on the state of bfsresize. I could’ve sworn it wasn’t finished yet. *shrugs*

<trungnt2910[m]>
Sad...
<trungnt2910[m]>
spent a whole morning compiling some stuff
<x512[m]>
In theory it should work, but probably unstable.
<trungnt2910[m]>
And then it ran out of disk
<x512[m]>
trungnt2910[m]: Simple option is making new disk image/partition and doing `cp -a`.
<trungnt2910[m]>
Any quick way to do a sector by sector copy of a BFS drive?
<trungnt2910[m]>
cp is a bit slow as it seems to be enumerating something...
<x512[m]>
Haiku can be moved by just copying files on a disk. No config editing is needed.
<x512[m]>
trungnt2910[m]: dd? But it will produce a volume with the same size.
<trungnt2910[m]>
Hmmmm...
<trungnt2910[m]>
I wonder
<trungnt2910[m]>
if copying 2000 C compiled objects from HDD to SSD is faster than recompiling them all on SSD.

I migrated 100+ GB of used data and a lot of small files on BFS voulme multiple times.

<trungnt2910[m]>
Lol, how many days did that take.
<x512[m]>
~3 hours?
<trungnt2910[m]>
All on SSD?
<x512[m]>
HDD -> SSD, SSD -> SSD.
<trungnt2910[m]>
Three hours for HDD -> SSD?

<x512[m]>
trungnt2910[m]: That may be longer, but definitely less then one day.
<x512[m]>
trungnt2910[m]: Real hardware.
<trungnt2910[m]>
There's a tool on Haiku called "Installer", does this copy everything from the current image to another drive?

<x512[m]>
I am not sure what happens with PackageFS if run `cp -a /boot` on running system, it likely will be copied, but shouldn't. So it is better to not copy data of running system.
<x512[m]>
> But `cp -a` is much slower...
<trungnt2910[m]>
I'm not, just wanted to copy the build folder.
