Icons are stored as an attribute with their file. However, that doesn't mean that every file has to have this attribute to appear with an icon in a Tracker window: data files inherit their icon from their filetype. T

I'm having a problem here trying to update the colors on string views that have been archived and then unarchived and put into a replicant. It's using the colors from appearance, I can change B_PANEL_BACKGROUND_COLOR and B_PANEL_TEXT_COLOR and see the effect. Is there a way to break out of using the color constants? Is there a good reason why SetViewColor, SetLowColor, SetHighColor wouldn't work?
15:12
<
Skipp_OSX >
I believe there's something deeper going on here with the string views because the bold font style isn't being applied to the labels either but I'm not sure what that could be. I suspect that my archiving and unarchiving may not be correct.

BStringView doesn't archive them, but BView does. And maybe that gets overwritten on AttachedToWindow() but it seems like I could override whatever that is trying to do before it gets called.
15:49

yes, if things work as expected, AttachedToWindow will set colors only if you didn't set anything before attaching to a window. And unarchiving counts as setting colors so I think it should do nothing, but I can't be sure it works as expected

apparently Layout->ItemAt(index) gives you a BLayoutItem, not a BView... and then you have to call View to get the view.
