<rennj> icon-o-matic was it
<rennj> heh cmd.exe
<rennj> you want a terminal dont you?
<rennj> Icons are stored as an attribute with their file. However, that doesn't mean that every file has to have this attribute to appear with an icon in a Tracker window: data files inherit their icon from their filetype. T
<rennj> Being an attribute, it follows that only filesystems supporting metadata can retain a file's individual icon. So, if you move files off your BFS volume, consider zipping them up so you don't lose icons or other attributes.
<rennj> you probably going to half to do the icons i would think
<rennj> you probably going to have to do the icons i would think

<rennj> ahh the icons inside the app top bar
<Begasus> yep rennj ... I already have an app icon
<rennj> yeah i was thinking icons in the dir/app icons
<rennj> probably some pixmap, gtk/gdk foobar
<Begasus> right, first thought about update on wxgtk, but that's not involved for Geany

<grobe0ba> just sayin'
<matt1> i apologize but i don't trust in interpreted languages: only in compiled languages
<matt1> I can't explain how interpreted languages work
<Anarchos> matt1 they are interpreted by a runtime
<matt1> but how it knows if : if ... then ... end if or if ... then ... else ... end if
<matt1> you need all the source
<Anarchos> they parse the commands
<Anarchos> and compile them to bytecodes
<Anarchos> then the runtime execute the bytecodes

<Skipp_OSX> I'm having a problem here trying to update the colors on string views that have been archived and then unarchived and put into a replicant. It's using the colors from appearance, I can change B_PANEL_BACKGROUND_COLOR and B_PANEL_TEXT_COLOR and see the effect. Is there a way to break out of using the color constants? Is there a good reason why SetViewColor, SetLowColor, SetHighColor wouldn't work?
<Skipp_OSX> I believe there's something deeper going on here with the string views because the bold font style isn't being applied to the labels either but I'm not sure what that could be. I suspect that my archiving and unarchiving may not be correct.
x10z has joined #haiku
<Skipp_OSX> the low color is supposed to be transparent, the text color is supposed to be white (well, more accurately the Desktop text color.)
<Skipp_OSX> The string views are attached to a (BGroup)Layout, I archived the layout with the string views attached and then unarchived the layout and string views. Is there a way to tell the Layout hey you're in an entirely new window now, please update yourself?

<Skipp_OSX> I think you mean AdoptViewColors, yeah I tried that

x10z has joined #haiku
<PulkoMandy> I don't know if BStringView or BView actually save and restore the active colors in archiving/unarchiving
<PulkoMandy> BStringView doesn't: https://cgit.haiku-os.org/haiku/tree/src/kits/interface/StringView.cpp#n112 and even if it did, code in AttachedToWindow could easily overwrite it: https://cgit.haiku-os.org/haiku/tree/src/kits/interface/StringView.cpp#n132
<PulkoMandy> BView does archive and restore them: https://cgit.haiku-os.org/haiku/tree/src/kits/interface/View.cpp#n638
<Skipp_OSX> yeah, that's what I saw
<Skipp_OSX> BStringView doesn't archive them, but BView does. And maybe that gets overwritten on AttachedToWindow() but it seems like I could override whatever that is trying to do before it gets called.
<PulkoMandy> yes, if things work as expected, AttachedToWindow will set colors only if you didn't set anything before attaching to a window. And unarchiving counts as setting colors so I think it should do nothing, but I can't be sure it works as expected
HaikuUser has joined #haiku
<waddlesplash> archiving should likely save the UI colors if that's what's actually set and not the raw rgb
<PulkoMandy> it saves both
<waddlesplash> well it should likely only restore one of the two?
<waddlesplash> if UI color is available then restore that and ignore rgb
<Skipp_OSX> hmmm this could be me afterall, looping through layout items is not working in my code.
<skunky> hey, does haiku currently work with nvidea graphics cards like the 1080, or not yet?
<skunky> i have enjoyed using haiku a few times so far, but my current main pc has sadly only an nvidia card and no integrated one
<Skipp_OSX> well ... my loop code had a problem, but fixing it didn't solve the issue
<Skipp_OSX> apparently Layout->ItemAt(index) gives you a BLayoutItem, not a BView... and then you have to call View to get the view.

<Skipp_OSX> I can set bold on the strings again (I shouldn't have to), but I can't seem to get the colors to behave.
<Skipp_OSX> none of AdoptParentColors(), AdoptViewColors(this), Set*UIColor(B_NO_COLOR) had effect.
<waddlesplash> well sounds like a bug
<Skipp_OSX> idk about the colors part, but the bold part seems like it could be an oversight
