<waddlesplash> "win8linux says it quit, not hung" <- No, all I've said is that it doesn't display a window. The game doesn't quit by itself. I think jmairboeck may be onto something.
<win8linux[m]>
Anyways, I'll see if I can find a way to grant remote access to a VM.

changing the icon for a folder isn't as easy as it is for a file

that functionality seems to be broken in FileTypes

<zdykstra>
I created an empty text file, then used Icon-o-Matic to set the icon from a big archive of hvif files. Then I used copyattr to copy BEOS:ICON from the file to the folder
<waddlesplash>
it's broken in FileTypes? anyone filed a bug about it then?
<zdykstra>
Obtuse, but it works reliably
<augiedoggie_>
i don't recall if there's an open bug
<augiedoggie_>
you can do it via the gui but it takes an extra step
<zdykstra>
What's the extra step?
<augiedoggie_>
so, right click the folder and open with FileTypes, right click where the icon should be and choose "Edit", in Icon-O-Matic choose File-Append and then File->Save
<augiedoggie_>
File->Append
<zdykstra>
Ahh
<zdykstra>
I'll have to try that tomorrow
<zdykstra>
Thanks!
<augiedoggie_>
i don't see any open bugs about it on trac

Nvm, can't get the RDP connection to work even locally.
<win8linux[m]>
However, the root cause might lie somewhere in the Flat ControlLook.

Preparing a ticket for the bugtracker soon.
<jmairboeck>
I reinstalled an older build of OpenCASCADE with Tk enabled, DRAW hangs on SdlTkXOpenDisplay - pthread_cond_wait - cond_wait - _kern_mutex_switch_lock. What could be the problem here?
<waddlesplash>
pthread_cond_wait has been observed to have deadlocks before I think
<waddlesplash>
but nobody has managed to construct a minimal reproducer
<jmairboeck>
it looks like I am running into that
<jmairboeck>
not a big deal for me, I just disable Tk, then DRAW is command line only

is EGL actually supposed to work? Currently I get an error: "EGL doesn't provide compatible configurations" when trying to run some samples. Or should I disable OpenGL as well?

Hey folks, any devs available? Gerrit doesn't like my public key so need some advice... (yes, it's ED25519 :) )
<qwilk>
...
<tqh>
I think i use ed25519, it is the only way to fly :)
<qwilk>
yeah me too, but error adding it... not sure if I'm missing something obvious
<tqh>
yes, ssh-ed25519
<qwilk>
yup
<waddlesplash>
I also use an ed25519 key, works finr
<waddlesplash>
fine
<qwilk>
hmm
<qwilk>
more trial and error then... log out/in, etc
<qwilk>
bbl :)

<tqh>
I assume I just copy-pasted the public key text to the "New SSH key" box
<qwilk>
hmm 256-bit ED25519 ?
<qwilk>
@tqh: yes that what I tried too
<tqh>
I probably followed githubs generate ssh key guide, I think that is my goto for that.
<qwilk>
hmm perhaps, I just quickly went through the Haiku docs and ssh-keygen'd it
<qwilk>
yes, did that.
<qwilk>
then ssh-keygen -e -f <...> to get the public key
<qwilk>
is yours 256-bit too btw?
<tqh>
I don't specify I think. So default size.
<tqh>
does gerrit complain when adding?
<qwilk>
"Error 400: Invalid SSH Key"
<qwilk>
copy'n'paste into Web+
<tqh>
perhaps web+ is the problem.
<qwilk>
Falkon instead?
<qwilk>
or which one is the go-to apart from Web+?
<tqh>
As a haiku dev I use linux :)
<qwilk>
hey I'm trying haiku within haiku running on Hyper-V :)
<tqh>
I'd try one of the alternative browser if it is bad request error.
<qwilk>
ok will do, thanks.
<qwilk>
btw... coming in with fresh eyes and bitten by it... it would be nice if jam without -j defaulted to all threads available :)
<qwilk>
brb
<tqh>
the jam code is in the buildtools repo, so could be done, it would also be good if every thread kept it's erroring out output and reported it last so I don't have to switch down to -j1 just to read the error..
<qwilk>
no luck with Falkon...
<qwilk>
...trying Otter

Haiku works pretty OK in a Hyper-V VM if you want to run virtualized. You don't have many options for screen resolution though, and no mouse scrollwheel...
<xoblite>
plus you need to use the legacy network adapter option
